Bad news!!!!!!!!!!!! Oener has proved that he can sell his boys to both American and German tv,the two biggest markets out there. An Irish promoter,eh! Very bad news!!
Thats the same story Padraig Hoare broke there over a month ago! The indo would want to get the fingure out!
Not great news....if they move him fast it CAN work, but Rigondeux is one of the older and more experienced of the Cuban amateurs to turn pro and needs ranked fights quickly, just like Gamboa. He's awesome, just glad that he is fighting again.
Maybe they'll promote him differently??? I dunno.....they don't have the financial clout/connections of Oner, but they seem to be fighting regularly and all they need is to keep in shape....you can't teach these guys **** all about boxing, look at Garcia, first spar in the UK and he schooled Froch
thats why i think its a bad move,Oner has lots of conections and hes doing a great job with Gamboa getting him HBO and ESPN dates and hes trying to make him a big draw in Florida specially the Miami area where theres lots of cubans. not only that he will fight for a title this year. right now i think it would be better for Rigondeaux if he fought on Gamboas undercards in the States and his talent would do the rest.
I feel bad about it, Öner and De Cubas has the perfect team: money, excellent realitonship with other promoters and all major US TV networks and a very passionate crowd they can reach in Miami. With that said, US, Ireland, doesn't matter, Rigondeaux should start fighting as soon as possible, that's more important than two rival promoters going at each other. Guillermo MUST step into the ring soon, and I wish good luck for Hyde to be able to build up Rigondeaux as quickly as he can. Nothing is more important than that.
at his age he will be moved as fast as gamboa irelands.usa..germany its doesnt realy matter gary hyde simply wanted what he was entitled to. apparently he doesnt really care where he is based or promoted by, just as long as hes a major player in whats going on. if the best place for him is in miami then hyde is smart enough to realise his comfort is important
Bunce was taliking about the Cubans and he stated that they generally dont do good business apart from Gamboa whos established a decent following in Miami.Thats the problem, who do you market these Cuban lads to.
heres an interview we did OnTheGrind with Gary Hyde last week [mp3]http://www.blogtalkradio.com/OnTheGrind/2009/03/27/Ep-51.mp3?localembed=download[/mp3] I think the main point to note is that he plans to take the Cubans to america this year. He will be managing them not promoting them. I know alot of the big boys in america have been VERY interested in getting these boys over to america. Im sure hes going to prove the doubters wrong this year
Oener is a scumbag, the sooner he's out of boxing, the better. Anything that ****s Oener over makes me a happy man. :good
He also proved he can ring the bell when his guy is in trouble, that wa sshameful. Let's see how this works out.
