Yeah I think this is what fueled him to win. He knew that he could only rely on himself. If my father did that to me I am sure I would hate him. I thought it was a joke but when I saw F Roach say it ...I felt bad for Manny.

No, Hagler weighed over the Middleweight limit in 16 of his pro bouts, and Pavlik in 17 of his bouts. I think they just meant Middleweight Champions.

Oh come on, this is the Classic Forum, if you did not know about the Leonard/Taylor sparring session, leave the forum now, and do not comeback, until you have read up on it!;)

    A proper stat:

Johnny King is the only fighter to ever win a Lonsdale belt despite not defending his title twice; or though the three year; no available challenger rule....

Didn't know that about Johnny King, but both Walter McGowan and Charlie Magri were awarded the belt due to no suitable challenger.

Stanley Ketchel wasn't allowed in Jeffries' corner during the Jeffries-Johnson bout because he saw that James wasn't looking fit in training so he planned on knocking out Jeffries before the bout so that Johnson couldn't do it.
The only man Sam Langford said he wouldn't fight is James Jeffries.
Henry Armstrong's trainer would push down on Armstrong's shoulders while he weighed in so that he weighed in heavier. Which makes it even more amazing considering that he gave up even more weight than he is believed to have in several bouts.
Primo Carnera tied an elastic cord around his ***** while he slept so that if he had a wet dream he would awaken from the pain before he climaxed.
That's all I can think of.

    - Featherweight great Sandy Saddler had a two reach advantage on Heavyweight great Rocky Marciano

    - Georges Carpentier fought in every division that existed at the time.

    - Primo Carnera weighed 22 pounds at birth.

    - Sam Langford and Jim Savage are the last participants in a pro fight to a no round limit in 1923.

    - Freddie Welsh's manager bet Welsh's entire fight purse on him to win against Benny Leonard. Welsh went home titleless and with empty pockets.

    - George Foreman is the only fighter ever to win his first world title on his own birthday.
