Locket wasnt even a ring top 10 contender, they thought him so shite. Pavlics odds at the bookies were ludicrous to beat him. Sky sports were offering 1/33. Put 33 dollers on to win 1. Even Hatton and his handpicked opponent was only 1/10 on, over 3 times less expected to win. Locket and Pavlik should have never been in the same ring, it was a total joke!
You Sir, have all my respect and I gather you have a keen sense of fair play. You are a boxing fan first....The reason Joe gets a lot of negative response by many folks here are these types of machinations, and they have been going on through out his career. The man has has had to be literally forced to step up late in his career, yet opponents are still carefully chosen. Any true great Warrior worth his salt would take the challenge. Win or lose I would have so much respect for the man and his career if he gave us 2 fights Dawson and Pavlik.
Kessler a Pit bull - the guy who ducked Miranda bull!!!!!! Lacy -a hype train. Hopkins proved that Joe is overrrated.
No Joe MENTIONED ! Not called ..He threw his name out there no diffrent than any other fighter before him !
This statement is complete bull****! Slappy Joe spent 7 ****ing months calling Pavlik out, and Pavlik said yes ON THE RECORD at least 3 times. Your boy misplaced his balls, and no amount of spin will reattach them!
Streight forward lol That would be easy pickens for an offense machine in Joe .I wonder if you nocticed that in that same rematch Pavlik couldn't just walk right through Taylor like most people expect him to do in just about every fight these days ..Another thing those so called slaps sure ****ed up Lacy's pretty good ! A fighter thats as easly hit as Pavlik would also get ***** slapped !
Makes sense to me if Calz. fights Pavlik first and then, if victorious fights Jones Jr. Calz. is now a bit past his peak and Pav. is either peak or approaching peak. The sooner Calz. vs. Pav. happens the better the chances of them having a great fight. Also, the fight should be @ 168, and this is the best time for Calz. to effectively maintain his ability to make the weight. So if Joe does not take the fight next, his chances of victory go down considerably vs. Pav. Jones, like Calz., is also past his peak, so it's not as important for this fight to occur next. It will still be available if Calz. beats Pavlik and will also be bigger because of all the hype surrounding Calz. victory over Pav. If Pav wins, then Calz. vs Jones does not happen but Jones vs Pav. might. So what's Joe doing? 3 possibilities: 1) He's shrewdly going for the biggest bang for the buck 1st in jones, and then he'll take on Pav. If he somehow loses to Jones then he makes more money than if he loses to Pav. 2) He's going for the big money of Jones and purposly ducking Pav. 3) He's using Jones as a bargaining chip to get even more money on the table to fight Pav. Hopefully, for everyones sake, Joe's choosing option #3.
Too many negative "ducking posts". I still think the Calzaghe-Pavlik fight will be made. IMO, what's at the moment going on behind the scenes is the two camps trying to see if they can land the fight location. There's no way in the world Calzaghe is saying No to Pavlik in Cardiff with 50000 in the audience.:thumbsup
Pavlik would want to fight at super-middleweight maximum but Calzaghe struggles to make super-middleweight and therefore cannot perform to his best when he reaches this weight. Pavlik would have to move up 2 weight divisions to meet JC at light heavy and im not sure KP, or Arum, would be up for that. I want to see KP fight at least 1 or 2 super-middles before hes up against JC
Tricky for 3-4 rounds and he runs out of gas then it's all Calzaghe from there. This fight is based on activity and Roy doesn't have any of that anymore, the only thing Roy has left is power and that won't be enough at all. Pointless fight.
Absolute rubbish -Pavlik is the latest hype-job - you're talking about him as if he's the hardest hitter in the history of boxing, based on a few KOs at MW Lacy doesn't throw 'wide ******ed hooks' - he had a wicked left hook, but Calzaghe made him look sluggish and one-dimensional. Until that fight, you were all on Lacy's nuts, talking about HIM as if he was the hardest hitter in the history of boxing. Calzaghe took a few flush shots from Lacy and ate them right up and schooled Lacy. His 'slapping and running' ****ed Lacy up, or didn't you see Lacy's head after the fight? Kessler did what Calzaghe let him - again, Calzaghe took a few big hits from Kessler and shook them off and visibly hurt Kessler on several occasions with those 'slaps'. Kessler became cautious because those 'slaps' hurt him. I can't believe it, we've got ESB's arguably most uneducated, xenophobic black American supporting Pavlik simply because he's been touted as a potential opponent for the non-American Calzaghe :-( You're a ****ing one-eyed, nationalistic, biased clown who can't see past your own 'hood', you idiot. Ya ****en bandwagon jumping cheerleader :deal
