nobody remembers amateur champions:rofl just like college basketball accomplishments don't mean nothing when you get to the nba.

Donaire is a 3 division champion in 27 fights. Gamboa is 1 division champion. Since lopez just lost gamboa should go fight chris john then we can start talking about how special he is until then he is BEHIND DONAIRE.:deal

Why do Cubans think amateur accomplishments are relevant in terms of where they should be ranked in the pros? It doesn't ****ing matter guys. When people talk about Salvador Sanchez, they don't go on and on about how his lack of extensive success in the amateurs should be held against him, and he's just one example. So many great fighters, even current top-ranked fighters, haven't had an awful lot of brilliant histories in the unpaid ranks. It doesn't, and shouldn't matter when we're talking about professional careers. Which, by the way, Donaire surpasses Gamboa in as of now.

Why would anyone care about the first 20 pro fights if we are talking about where they stand presently on the P4P rankings? Their first 20 pro fights wouldn't even get them honorable mention on the P4P rankings.

I'm just having a difficult time understanding your thought process with regards to your question about ND's P4P status. If you want to know why he's held in such high regard and is see as a better boxer than Gam, it's based on where they both are at presently in their careers.

Again....understanding why you are asking the question will help us figure out why you have this perception that Gam should have given a better P4P ranking than Nonito.

It was a close fight, and Donaire was 18 at the time.

Because since I am comparing him with Gamboa and Gamboa only has 20 pro fights, it's only fair to compare them in their first 20 fights. I understand that Donaire has done more ( cause he has 7 more fights than Gamboa ), but my statement is that he should be top 10 P4P but not #3 ...

Maybe it's because since we know a lot about the amateurs, ( since we only can compete in the ams because of Castro ), we have developed a way of comparing ams to pros as in a comparison way. Since Cuban amateur boxing is really pro boxing but fighting 4 rounds with headgear, we can safely and better annalyze the picture much better than other Countries where amateurs are really amateurs. :good

I guess kid chocolate who lost 10 times ain't **** in your eyes

sorry but i don't agree with you.

oh you think Gamboa was not a good amateur because he lost and it says that he was already "dominated"

once again, we don't agree on that either.

I guess we don't agree on anything

This is an horrible and inexcusable opinion. It's absolutely ridiculous. Do you rate Gamboa over Henry Armstrong? Do you? I really need to know.

No one fighter has the same career. Some have a easier start, some have harder...the path is always differnt but the destination is the same. Nonito began his career in 2001 where Gam got a late start and began his in 2007.

It took Nonito 6 yrs to compile 20 fights where it took Gam only 3 or 4. Nonito wasn't represented like Gam was either....Being that Gam was highly touted wth his AM background and accomplishments he was picked up by top promoters and had an easier time getting fights...as you can see with their first 20 fights.

It's sad that Cuban fans today have no respect for their great warriors of the past like Kid Chocolate.
