Wow, it must have been a disusgusting robberry then. Altough I am selfishly kinda glad as I was gonna lay money down on Abril but chose against it, would have been gutted had he won.

Could be , Rios certainly looked ill at the weight in , they should rematch but at 140 , anyways , good on you for recognizing that he lost , not many fans do that nowadays . :good . Peace .

Marquez looked good against a very game awkward fighter. Marquez has bulked up a lot and he seemed to have slowed some but he looked pretty good and he finished the fight strong.

Masterclass. Did the best he could with what he had to work with. Fedchenko ran and flopped more than Haye did against Klitschko.

    Once again,

"Abril lost because two judges deducted points for his excessive holding. A judge has the right to do that even without a referee's request. They also felt that Abril was fighting to survive and not to win. He was overly defensive and they gave Rios credit for his aggression and for a higher number of punches landed. Like it or not that is why Abril lost. I originally gave Abril 9 out of 12 rounds but I can see a judge deducting points from Abril even if I wouldn't have".

Losses happen in boxing. It's not the end of the world. Luckily for Rios, he was able to get a win even when he lost. Hopefully, he learns from this and comes to the ring at his best from now on.

I said about the same thing in another thread, but just based on what I've read. I only saw the last round but hope to see the entire fight soon. MMA started putting pressure on boxing to be more exciting. Pro boxing is FIRST entertainment. If not, people don't by tickets and you may as well be an amateur. Like it or not. You come to see two guys fight they must both be equally willing to "bring it". Counter punching is fine in a street fight where you are defending yourself but not in an entertainment settings. You wanna make millions? Then put it out there and do your share of aggression.

I think I'm going to need an asbestos suit for my squirrel. I just watched the fight and I think I can see why the judges at RINGSIDE may have scored this for Rios.

First, Rios made the fight. Abril danced away and then smothered when in close. He seldom initiated contact unless he had a clear positional advantage and that was when Rios gave him an opening because he sure wasn't wasting much time trying MAKE an advantage.

Second, Abril comes to score points, not do damage. Why didn't Rios go in behind the jab and do the 'bob and weave' on the way in? He didn't have to. At no point did Abril's punches seem to have much effect on Rios. Remember the criteria is clean EFFECTIVE punches.

Third, Rios worked while in close. He'd move Abril's head with a punch yet the commentators never seemed to give him any credit for those shots. Abril's right kidney area was getting a bit red because Rios was also working the body. Two of the judges obviously seemed to think that made a difference.

Fourth, and I have no way to judge this, is what they HEARD. When I see a fight in a small venue and get close to the action I generally have a pretty easy time scoring a fight because sometimes you can hear the difference in two fighters punches landing. Since Rios was landing to the body his would have been louder. Maybe not as fair since that will generally be louder unless you land a really clean hard head shot, but I'll give the judges the benefit of the doubt since they are pros and sat ringside.

At the end of the day, one man came to fight, one man came to box. Two of the refs scored for the fighter when they could. I did not do a round by round scoring and I have no desire to see this a second time.

I agree, it was an awful fight to watch. As I said earlier. I did not score the fight for Abril because he looked that good. I scored it for Abril because Brandon looked that bad. I think Rios would stop Abril if the fight were at 140.
