Actually, given the amount of times that you've said words to the effect that "I'm right and everyone who disagrees with me in the slightest is wrong"; I might well have posted the God complex remark, anyway....regardless of whether IB entered the thread. Hell, IB could have scored the fight 12-0 Froch, and I likely would have made the comment. That's just the way I tend to roll when it comes to things like this. Like I said in the quoted post, the way something is stated tends to get my attention more than the content. If IB's being unfair about something, I'm sure I'll express my disagreement with him, too. In any event, there's no way for me to know if you're a hypocrite or not, assassin...mostly because I can't be bothered to look up your posting history and also because, for whatever reason, previous posts of yours haven't registered in my memory. The only thing I did say was that you were coming across as an arrogant, unreasonable ****...while acknowledging the fact that most everyone on this site has likely come across in the exact same way at some point. I fail to see how that's ironic... In fact, the only real bit of irony that I can see is that you responded in such a manner that illustrated the point I was trying to make. Just saying...
i dont buy that score card at all. i thought Kessler won 1,4,5,9,10,11. rounds 1 and 6 were very close. no way froch 8-4, he was missing like crazy and lookin like a dummy too
kessler did WAY better than the cards of lederman, byrd and chubby rafael. For some reason, those 3 lack the ability to be objective, and ALWAYS gravitate towards certain fighters or styles. I don't think they really observe body punches nor understand that missed jabs a more a sign of defense than offense....
I agree with many of you but workrate has to count for something. Yes, Froch only landed 20% of his punches but he doubled Kessler's output and, most importantly, walked through those sledgehammers Kessler was throwing...preventing the judges from being able to discern just how "cleanly" Kessler's punches were landing and stealing rounds from the Dane in the process. Props to The Cobra.
Totally agree with the missed jabs part. Nobody in the states appreciate Kesslers subtle slipping and blocking of many of his opponent's punches. I saw that in the Calzaghe fight and even more in Showtime's coverage of Kessler Froch I. I think they have seen so many shoddy decisions where punches thrown count more than punches landed (they actaully say this once and a while in their commentary) that they subconsciously try to put that into their scoring. Still, HBO is an entertainment channel and they know that Froch has like 10 times as many fans as Kessler, so they are just giving their fans what they want.
Browsing I saw this old post and brought it back into play I seem to recall having Froch a fair winner in this 2nd fight, and had Kessler a fair winner in the 1st fight. Will have to watch both again
I saw the fight on TV in an Italian bar. I had Froch winning 115-114, the last round being the decider. But the Italians in the bar had Kessler the winner. I think Froch knew it was close when he gave it all he had left in the 12th, he nearly forced a stoppage.
Very close rounds are still 10-9's. This fight was similar to Mayweather/Maidana for me. A lot of close rounds with a clear comfortable winner that people somehow ended up concluding the fight was closer than it really was. I think peoples' personal agendas are at play here because I really don't see anything otherwise. 117-111 Froch for me, and people that recognize my posting name can say that I am far from a biased Froch fan and am indeed a Kessler guy... Scoring is on a round by round basis and while the fight as a whole might seem like a 115-113 off top of the head based on overall competitiveness, that is not how we score fights in pro boxing. I watched the fight with friends and sort of stressed the above when rationalizing my score with a "closer than 117-111 feeling fight" and they all had it between 118-110 and 116-112 thinking it was pretty one sided.
I know what you are trying to say. Its like when people try and make out Ward schooled Froch, when many rounds were very close
