This letter is regarding Kelly R. Pavlik, who is a patient here at Poland Medical Center. Kelly was at home the evening of 11/05/2007 and was attempting to open an old framed window. As he was trying to push the window open, the window became stuck, his hand slipped and inadvertently thrust his hands through the window. As he pulled his hands back he sustained lacerations to both forearms. He presented to my office on 11/06/2007 for evaluation and treatment. He sustained three superficial lacerations to the right forearm and hand and also three superficial lacerations to the left forearm and hand. He also had numerous superficial abrasions. The wounds were explored. There was no evidence of tendon damage or tendon involvement on any of the lacerations. There was no evidence of retained glass fragments. The six lacerations were repaired with sutures in the office. Kelly was placed on an antibiotic prophylaxis as a precaution. There was no evidence of tendon damage or tendon involvement on any of the lacerations. There was no evidence of retained glass fragments. The three lacerations on the left and right hands are healing well. There is no evidence of impending infection. He has full function including full flexion, extension, supination and pronation. He has full range of motion of his fingers. The superficial abrasions are all in an excellent stage of healing after 48 hours. Kelly will be returning on 11/16/2007 for suture removal. I anticipate he will be able to resume his training within a week of removal of the above noted sutures. It is with a reasonable degree of medical certainty that his superficial abrasions/lacerations sustained in this accident will have absolutely no impact on his ability to train for his upcoming fight.
But it doesn't mention HOW MANY sutures he needed. And Fightnews.com this morning reported in a KP update that it was 108 sutures. I have to believe John D. on this one. Why can't people get their stories straight? :huh Either way, he's gonna be fine.
