Well for one, even if Dana obviously threw Randy a freak show match. He still took it with a professional approach, trained well and executed the game plan.
That is called a game plan. All they (Randy's camp) did was follow some simple logic: 1. The opponent (Toney) is a world class boxer + Randy not a top tier stand up fighter (even in MMA standards) = Avoid stand up if possible. 2. His (Toney) weakness (most likely) is his takedown defense = Go for a takedown 3. He (Toney) will most likely have a very low level of ground defense = Go for a GnP or go for a sub. ...if you can't understand simple logic like that and preferred to see Randy be stupid and engage Toney on a stand-up (just to prove a point), then I can't provide you with any sensible explanation anymore.
I disagree. I've seen a lot of fights, and I've never seen anyone in a "real fight" trying to pass guard, use leg kicks or dry hump the other guy into submission. :rofl
Or he is actually a smart businessman to earn an easy paycheck worth 700k . Actually winning the fight would've been just the icing on the cake :good
fish hooking your cheek :lol Roger Huerta doesn't train to stomp on somones head in MMA but he had no problem doing it in the street.
Well, yeah, that's because most street fights aren't between two skilled trained combatants. Most fights are two untrained guys (or more) fighting because one of their egos is hurt, or they are drunk, or aggressive for some other reason. Just because you only see shitty fighters getting into streetfights doesn't change what works the best in one. MMA was designed to show what worked the best by pitting against each other real true skilled fighters (there are street fighters like you speak of who made it into MMA, Kimbo Slive and Tank Abbott come to mind) but generally in a fair setting (you can only know what works best for fighting if you compare them in a fair setting, surely if one guy has a lot of friends who jump in and he beats you up using any fighting style it doesn't show that his style was better than yours). You don't think a fantastic college wrestler is going to slam some dude if he has to fight him? What about the Thai clinch? I've never ever seen that used in a street fight, but most people aren't trained Muy Thai fighters, so I am sure the reason that I haven't seen it is because the fighters don't possess the skill to use it in a fight, not because it isn't a good successful strategy.
toney may have done well if he hadve started from the ground up with lesser opponents than a future hall of famer and had a shitton more training. was pretty dumb what he did. Whenever any of my UFC loving buddies asked me who i though would win i always jokingly said toney by submission.
MMA is pretty much arm punches, leg kicks and wrestling, not street fighting. atsch Here is a good example... I was in a fight with a guy, took him to the ground and had "side control", was bashing him in the face. What did he do? Arm bar attempt? Triangle attempt? Rubber guard? Nasty elbow strike? Hell no. HE BIT ME! I was like, wtf? What is that sissy ****? But it worked... He bit me, I was bleeding and I jumped up off him. That is street fighting.
