These are just belts right? They dont give you special powers or anything?
Granted you can get some alphabet champs however if you judge a boxer on his skills why do the belts matter so much?

If RJJ was only WBO champ for 10 years is he rubbish because he defended that belt?

Calzaghe destroyed Lacy and he will never be the same fighter after Joe showed him up, we will have to see how Kessler comes back from the defeat by Joe. Two upcoming fighters Joe beat there, if he beats Hopkins, Pavlik and Dawson are these fighters then past it, over hyped?

Here and now who does he have to beat to get recognition?

I'm not 100% sure about his amateur background, but 100 amateur fights may be about right. Let's not also forget that he was fighting in prision as well, he was the prision champion.

Why the **** would Roy go to the UK to fight Calzaghe in 2001? Anyone that was asking Roy to leave the US in 2001 didn't really want to fight him. Calzaghe will leave the US to fight a 43 year old fighter, but he won't leave to fight a still prime Roy; a Roy who was more popular in 2001 than Nard is now. Roy would've beat Calzaghe silly in 2001.

No Blocky, what you don't get is that Americans don't just root for Americans, we don't really give a **** where guys are from. We are selfish though, we want you to fight over here for us to recognize you.

Joe could be a star in the US, if he fought here a few times.

We don't hold any kind of nationlism, despite how much you wish we did, so that you could justify how much you guys nuthugs guys from the UK, despite their shortcomings.

    Yah, not buying it.

Asking Jones to come to you back in his prime meant you had no intentions of making the fight IMO. I have read the articles about the Hopkins negotiations. Ok....I see some proof laid out there. But nothing on Jones other than Calzaghe said he wanted to fight Jones on TV in the UK. But asking Jones to come to you? Come on. Yankee or not, few would believe that you wanted Jones if you asked him to come to you knowing ahead of time he would not.

Nope, you're wrong. You can't dispute my argument because I'm right.

    I don't hate Calzaghe, he's a good fighter, it's his ignorant fans I can't stand.

People who try to justify him holding the WBO, as if it was a legit belt.

..and the argument if RJJ was just WBO or PBF was just WBO is bull****, because it didn't happen, they knew the WBO ain't **** and fought for the real belts. RJJ and PBF wouldn't be who they are if they sat in their home state and defended a mid-level belt for 9 years.

What is utter bollocks is trying to claim Calzaghe was the first person to put Eubank down - he wasn't. Another Calslappy fan trying to re-write history to make his boy sound better :patsch

Eubank faced Thompson after he fought Calzaghe and competed very well at cruiserweight yes. Now answer this - why do you think Eubank looked better at 190 than he did at 168? Bear in mind Eubank hadn't looked good at 168 for at least 3 years when he faced Calslappy.

Oh and Reid did actually outbox Calslappy :deal

Isn't it great having Blocky back to his classic rabid, foul posting style that caused so much traffic last year?:good

The fact that you generalize constanly ruins your argument. I don't even check to see where a fighter is from.

I can show you 2 occasions. Glen Johnson, and Glen Johnson again.

But don't tell me, that doesn't count because Joe would have won, right :D

What's wrong with that statement? Calzaghe has been boxing since he was a little kid.

This is shocking! A fighter talking trash before a big fight. Let's hope this trend doesn't catch on.

Eubanks quote is well known. It has no relevance to what I said though.

Calzaghe wanted Jones to come to him. So even if he did make contract offers (and I have never seen anything other than Calzaghe fans say this and there is no proof of it), I DO know that when they talked about it at all, the very little that they did in the press, that Calzaghe wanted Jones to come to the UK for the fight. So like I said, that to me means that Calzaghe had no intentions of fighting Jones. Why? Because no one could get Jones to leave the states at the time. He would make passing comments on leaving and fighting places, but during actual contract negotiations? He always vetoed that.

As for NOW? Yes, Jones may say that NOW....that isn't what we're talking about. Don't lump my argument in with others.

As for your last question? Glen Johnson.
