I see him at the gym sometimes doing some personal training and training his brother also. Good to see he's still involved in boxing with the fox commentary as well. Would have just loved to see a slugfest with Green though!
Yeah, Greeny vs Briggs was a fight I was hoping would come off but never did. I heard they're mates but things got pretty firey during some sparring sessions between them a few years ago, and they both handled each other pretty well. Would have been fireworks for sure! That said, I think Briggs star finally burnt out after being on the rise for so long - he's had a hell of a life, and his book is a great read. I personally believe writing the book and coming out with his past helped him to find peace within himself, and also helped him vent a lot of pent up anger, and he lost the fire that drove him for so many years. I can't begrudge a man some inner peace after so many years of turmoil - he did well to survive some of the life situations he found/put himself in, and seems to have come out the end a better man. Kudos to him. For a smaller man, he hung with one of the world's current best CW's in Adamek for 24 torrid rounds, and I'll always love his KO of Glen Kelly - the way he kisses his right glove after putting Kelly down.
Paul Briggs is the fighter that got me hooked on boxing. is a true warrior in the ring and a true gentleman out of it. so every know and then i get out some of his fights and watch them. would have loved to see prime Briggs -v- prime Green
Would have been an amazing fight.. something that genuinely would have been good for boxing. And Briggsy would have taken the UD for mine!
I reckon in there primes Briggs beats Green, I think green was slightly easier to hit and the hurricanes blows would of added up and hurt him.
The guy has been fighting forever. While most of us were playing video games, collecting footy cards, etc, this kid was doing intensive fighting training, and learning some lessons on life along the way. I agree with whats already been said that he had lost some of the fire that he thrived on in the past, but has found himself in a better place in the end. Having said that, I still think his 2nd loss to Adamek was closer than his first, though apart from the knockdown he scored in round one, he never really had Adamek hurt.
I got alot of respect for Briggs after reading his book, takes a big man to admit what happened to him.
