Bloody hell I think this is the one. Thanks for all the suggestions (even the funny ones!) I am sure some of the details I gave were wrong, simply bad memory on my part, hell it may not even be that good a fight! I have to check it out in more detail.

Just done some Youtubing and actually I am sure it is this one! Tony Collins' white dreads bring it all back. Thanks guys, now just need to find it!

:good Yeah Collins has the long hair, Swift is stocky and the fights 12 rounds and has really close scores and high scores by the way. Mickey Vann couldn't really split them by the looks.

The Collins brothers (George and Tony) were really part of the scene in the late 80s. Despite building up an impressive statistical record, George was found out at top class British level.

Tony though was wasted. He turned pro too early, and was only allowed to fight four rounders until he turned 18. Then with all his potential, he was pushed to the moon too quick.

The Nunez wars were excellent battles, but Collins was toast. Collins simply was not the puncher his statistical record suggested. Gross mismatches early on his career skewed that.

If you look, Collins goes from fighting novices straight on to rugged Latino journeymen with decent records and experience. There was simply not the gradual step up in class, Collins really required.

Thus as mentioned, he was done before his 23rd birthday.

I remember watching on ITV in 1986 during one afternoon a live fight(at a time when ITV even showed them)in some Hotel a bout between Rocky Kelly(Westham)v Tony Brown(Liverpool). That fight for a live viewing on tv in the afternoon was an absolute barnstormer,a thriller.Makes you wonder why fighters like this didn`t become better recognised.
