I can see why you might have become fond of Floyd as a result, unfortunately it has lead to some harmless bias.

Calzaghe throws thousands of punches. No other fighter in history could maintain Calzaghe's variety, timing and accuracy whilst throwing this many punches. He is unique. Anyone else attenpting Calzaghe's style would leave themself open defensively and they would be smashed apart by any world class opponent.

Calzaghe though I believe could fight of the backfoot equally well as Mayweather. If Calzaghe threw just 12 punches a round, you could expect 8 to land against your average title challenger.

Calzaghe isn't as stylish as Mayweather, Mayweather is more of an artist, but Joe's effectiveness in the ring is beyond compare.

    Not the end.
Was De La Hoya too big and strong for Pacquiao? Was Valuev too big and strong for Haye? Was Larry Holmes too big and strong for Michael Spinks?

Hell, I'd like to see it.

If May were to win, you couldn't doubt his candidacy for lb for lb ATG.

There would be question or argument about it. I believe that this would be a bigger event than Mayweather vs Pacquiao.

Why not throw them in against Wlad, **** it why not Vs. Vitali....
Bottomline is unless Floyd is released on FN4 it ain't gonna happen.
(Too BIG, Too BIG, Too BIG + PBF won't even fight 147lbs...)

Absolutley no chance. On Soccer AM last week Joe said getting down to 168 was becoming impossible, that's why he moved up. Today Joe has been retired for going on two years, he's walking around at 198. As I said, no chance.

Then why are there weightclasses in boxing to begin with?

Calzaghe had to cut a lot of weight to make supermiddle. He has been hit by fighters like Eubank, Reid, Kessler, RJJ, Hopkins. He would walk through anything Mayweather throws as if it's sparring and he has Headgear on. His punches may be slaps to smw/lhw fighters but a natural 135 - 140 pounder will most likely have a different excperience. Calzaghe would absolutely destroy anyone Mayweather ever faced. Mayweather against Eubank or Hopkins?? He would get his ass handed to him, probably by another half dozend fighters Calzaghe faced as well.

Calzaghe and Mayweather are the kings in modern boxing at making a career of fighting and beating mediocre or past-it opposition, artificially inflating their reputation by doing so and falsely serenading themselves as elite boxers.

Any enthusiasm for either boxer is similarly artificial and is only common amongst deluded, glory-hunting boxing 'fans' who have an insecure need to be associated with a name of success, even if that success is very hollow.

The fraudulent nature of the careers of Mayweather and Calzaghe will only be exposed in 20 or 30 years time with the objectivity of hindsight.

Floyd is much better P4P than Calzaghe could ever hope to be.

That being said, way too much size difference in this fight.

Exactly what was said about Pacquiao vs De La Hoya.
