If he can get his head out of his arse he can live with anyone at 140lbs. Unfortunately it's not going to happen over a long enough period of time.

I would like to see him in with Maidana, Morales or Judah ASAP.

Would love to see him make an impact at 140, would make me happy after being impressed with his performance against Soto and his run at 130 all those years ago.

He showed he could tough it out with a technically skilled and tricky fighter like Funeka, but showed he could whack, a bit in the 2nd fight, against an always vulnerable fighter. In the first fight Funeka put on a real good showing and it was Guzman badly hurt.

I think Guzman can do some good work at 140 but he needs to prove he can consistently make the weight before anyone will touch him. I'd fancy him against Garcia, and fights with Holt, Morales, Hell, Ajose would do a lot to confirming him as a serious, and more importantly reliable contender at the weight. Then he becomes a serious threat to Khan, Peterson and of he comes back,Bradley, but I dint think he will, and neither will Maidana or Alexander IMO.

But until then he's knocked over a few journeyman in this last couple of fights. It's a start I guess, but all talk of him as this great operator who isn't disciplined is bollocks, he's quality but hardly Chan-Hee Park in the 'too unfocused but freakishly talented' department IMO, nor good enough to get away with it, as Ruben Olivares and Wilfred Benitez often were.

Personally, I think just how good he could have been is a bit overstated nowadays. It's almost risen in direct correlation with how lazy he's become. He looked like he could have been pretty superb when he was at 122, but that was all conjecture based on looking truly dominant against meh opposition.

Anyhow, I don't believe that someone with little to no desire deserves to even be mentioned as a ''special fighter'', not if they don't fight through it and proceed to fight top-level fighters anyways. Dedication is as much of an attribute as anything else. He is wasting the ample talent he has though, that much is clear.

If he can be bothered I'd imagine he'll make some noise at 140. He's still managed to retain some of the talents that gained him such notoriety, although his foot movement has eroded pretty significantly. He'd still be one of the faster dudes at the weight, and while lacking the kind of pop he possessed at the lower weights he is relatively explosive. He'd clown a guy like Maidana in my opinion, and like Flea I'd favour him over fringe dudes like Garcia and Ajose(sorry Olu. That said, they might prove themselves as top fighters, Garcia in particular has time and potential, not sure about the latter). I'd have to see more out of him than just blasting journeymen in order to realistically gauge his chances against the best guys, though.

If there was one guy I wish Scott Harrison had fought it was Guzman. The guy is a ***** and Scotty would have beat ten shades of **** out him.

Guzman celebrated making weight nearly more than he did the win on FNF last week. That just tells it all. Kerry Kayes gave him a help out a few years ago, said he was a lovely fella but is surrounded by hangers on giving him food and drink when he wants it and haven't a clue. He came in 1 night after been in the sauna with him trying to make weight and he was drinking a can of 7-up because he was thirsty :patsch He also didnt like the sauna kerry had to go in with him and make him stay there. Little lacking in dedication to the craft which is obvious to everyone

Guzman is ****ing crazy. He's got an excellent 1-2, his handspeed when throwing it is immense.

An utter indisciplined joke though. A symbol of what is wrong in boxing with regards to discipline and weight.
