Cortez had a difficult night because he had to control a guy ON PPV...a guy who they let hold and hit in England his whole career. You can't hold and hit and that is why Floyd used his forearm. How does one cry about Floyd using his forearm when Hatton held and hit?

Floyd initiated 90% of the clinches, and Cortez blamed Hatton almost everytime!!

You are taught in America to hit with the free arm or use your forearm in extreme cases to push a guy off. Cortez doesn't become a bad ref after one fight smdh. Cortez did what he was taught, and thats to break them when there's too much clinching or holding and hitting.

:lol:Wow Floyd is dirty when he wants to be! He also pushed Mosley's head down in their fight a few times which happens to be, ILLEGAL. Overall, past the 3rd or 4th it was all Mayweather he put on a clinic but he did add foulness as well which admittingly can be effective when not caught though the moves are still illegal.

what impressed me most in the hatton performance... was the way flloyd fought on the inside. He used his elbows and forearms to stick in hattons face, his knees to turn hatton round and generally tied hatton up really well - and hatton was known to be a good inside fighter/wrestler.

^ if anything he exposed hatton as being not all that great on the inside. Hatton was constantly smothering his own work, and wasting punches that had no chance of landing. There's a way you can attack mayweather on the inside and hatton was clueless.

yep Mayweather never proves how good he us, but just how bad his opponents are.
when he beats Pacquiao, he's going to show everybody just how bad he is also

All great fighters can get down and dirty if they have to. I was surprised and I'm still surprised that Floyd got criticized for fighting dirty against Hatton when Hatton fights dirty a lot, and is glorified for fighting that way smh.

I dare you to compare how Cortez reff'd Hatton Mayweather and compare it with Hopkins Calzaghe

From what I remember from the fight Floyd would be the first to hold or turn his back. Cortez wasnt pulling the fighters out of clinches , but giving Floyd the distance.

More importantly this constant pressure on Ricky was telling , it wore him down more than the punches and made him over agressive.

Also the point deduction was just plain rediculous , Floyd turned his back, as he had done for the 1st 6 rounds.

With a decent ref Floyd would have won, but never knocking Ricky out and that is what destroyed his career.

You need to re-watch the fight again. What do you do when a man looks to get inside...and grabs your ARM the whole fight every time he gets in close to clinch. What is Floyd supposed to do, and should a ref let it go? Kostya Tszyu lost his title because Hatton was allowed to hold and hit.

Cortez was a joke, it wasnt holding that were all moanin about, Hatton likes to fight up close, and if hes in close throwing punches he isnt clinching or holding. But Cortez took Hattons biggest plays away from him and gave Mayweather ALL the advantages, he pretty much did Floyds defending for him. Wanker.

Not sayin that would of changed the outcome of the fight, never for a second have i ever thought Hatton was guna win that. But i cant deny what Cortez did.

And if Cortez is so strong on that particular way of fighting then why did he refferee the Hopkins v Calzaghe the exact opposite? Everything he didnt let Hatton do v Floyd he let Hopkins do v Calzaghe.

    The mans ****
