Floyd has taken a more stationary approach to his fights, lately. It's natural for a fighter to lose some bounce in their step as they age. People forget just how old Floyd is himself. He's no spring chicken in there, but he's not "over the hill" by any means. His footwork is still one of the best in the game, it's just slower and again, there's less bounce.

This applies not only to his footwork but also to his punching. He's put on more muscle mass and aged which has slowed down his ability to throw combinations.

So, Floyd now puts more emphasis on being in the right position and throwing accurate shots, rather than moving in and out rapidly and throwing combinations. It's a beautiful adjustment to make as a person ages. Many people can't do that and it impacts their longevity. It's similar to how Hopkins reinvented himself as his body stopped being able to perform as it did in his youth.

Roach said this after the mosely fight

But if you watch Mayweather fight with Corley and Judah.. you noticed he fought in a similar stance..

He uses it when he plays the aggressor against fast opponents.

You "think"? ALL fighters move less as they get older. It is nature. Boxing is a young man's game. To compensate you make every shot count and stay in the pocket.

Bouncing around is a fools game in the ring. It is only done by young boxers with nerves, ego, and cardio capacity to spare. Something you would only know by actually going to a boxing gym.

The thing you should "think" about is how an aging fighter like Manny with such a fast paced brutal damage absorbing style is getting older and continuing to move and throw tons of punches. How? :think How? :huh

I hate defending Floyd, but the guy just defeated who was consider the number 1 welterweight and two of Manny's best known victims before him and healthier. Just being a fighter and stepping in that ring is courage enough.

Thats his job, everyones got courage, you ever been in a scuffle? If you have (like 99% of us)then you have courage. But thats not going to make me wanna take on Fedor.

Shanes shot and Pacs not. Different levels of courage. Hes got 2011 to find the balls to fight Pac, if not hed be forgotten pretty quickly.

If it makes dollars it makes sense. He'll throw the flag down right smack dab in the middle of Manila.

A scuffle is very different from what these guys go through. None of us will understand. This sport is very mental and trust me a scuffle in the street happens real quickly and most likely only last a few seconds with no thoughts. Thats no courage, but instincts for survival.

Now Shane is shot, shaking my head. The guy shot or not shot was still consider the number 1 guy in his weight class. Floyd shut a lot of people including myself by his performance against Shane. Just give the man his props. Trust me if Manny did what Floyd did to Shane, it would have been another story. I know Shane wanted Manny even at 140:lol:, but it didnt happen. I wonder why?

Well, Roach said that Mosley was far too dangerous for Pacquiao. Perhaps that's why they're fighting Mosley's leftovers in Rockgloves.

I gave him props with Mosley but lets not fool ourselves as fans. Shane who fought Margo is far from the Shane that fought Floyd a year later.
As a matter of fact, Shanes been very inconsistent pre Margo as well by barely escaping MAyorga:lol: He had his day with Margo great win.

But its clear as day that he wasnt near his best with Floyd but Ill also say that the first two rounds whatever was left of him was on display and he troubled Floyd.

Manny didnt fight Shane because he wasnt sure if he was comfortable at the weight jump at first. I can't say Manny was scared because he beat Cotto who defeated Shane and he has no reason to be scared of anyone coming from where he came from. His handlers maybe figuring it was too much risk. Anyway, Manny would demolish the Shane that fought Floyd. And MAnny wants to fight Floyd now so this whole ducking thing is a moot point.

Dude, you get a fight in the street, your life is at 50/50. Youre not in a ring with gloves, doctors and rules. Lets not get carried away, this is sports. Its not being shipped to IRAQ or Afghanistan or getting into a bar fight.

    1. He fought Mayorga at 154lbs where he's had mixed results and clearly is not at his best. Even still Mosley had enough in the tank to get the win by brutal final round knockout.

    2. Oh man, so Mosley had "something left" for two rounds, then went shot for ten? Too funny.

    3. We already KNOW why Manny never fought Mosley. Roach viewed the fight as too dangerous, so they passed on the opportunity. Even when Mosley offered to drain himself down to bare bones like Oscar did.

    4. We'll never know. All we know on that matter is that Roach views Mosley as too dangerous for Manny.

It's sort of like a past prime Clemens resurrecting his career when he appeared past it, or an older Bonds suddenly hitting 70 homeruns.....
