Well, it's really quite simple, this event was not an undeserved success because Sky hyped it, or Steve Bunce said it was going to be a classic to rival Ali-Frazier (which he never did anyway) This event was a undeserved success because the British public are ignorant fools. Everyone in the UK knows Harrison, knows what he's like and deep down, should have known that this fight was a mismatch, and wasn't worth shelling out for. How dare people complain that they paid for this fight, HOW DARE THEY? It was their choice, no-one forced them. Are they admitting to being that gullible, ignorant, and stupid that they belived whatever the salesman on TV told them? Maybe I should become a used car salesman, "this 1993 Ford Escort could outrun a Ferrari" People who bought this fight only have themselves to blame really don't they? I mean if they cared about the sport and only had one 15 quid to spend, spend it on Khan-Maidana, or Froch-Abraham.Why won't those fights do as well as this did? Because the British public is nationalistic, and would rather pay for an "all british" showdown, that an excellent match featuring only one brit. This country is known for it's sporting hype, we have the ashes coming up, and once again i'm expecting an Aussie win, but as usual our press is hyping us up, Wimbledon will be around the corner, and I expect Murray to be out in a "shocking" quarter final exit, Next major tournament, I expect our football team to take its usual humiliation, after months of hearing that Wayne Rooney is the worlds best player and will win the competition single handedly. This tripe is always happening, and the "casual fan" which i imagine looks something like a zombie, swallows it up EVERY SINGLE TIME. Lay off Steve Bunce, he never promised a great fight, look forward to two fights that should actually be great fights coming up, If the Ignorant masses would rather watch West Brom and Middlesborough play out a 0-0 draw than watch Abraham vs Froch, that's their problem Stop crying about the casual sheep being turned off boxing, they never cared about it anyway and were only watching because it was a british title fight, they are not and never will be fans, we have gotten on fine without them, and frankly i dont see why we should be upset that they lost a couple of pints and a pickled egg worth of their dole money. 2 months before the fight was announced, when it was first being talked about, boxing fans laughed at it. David Haye and Adam Booth laughed at it. The only people that wanted it were sky sports and Audley Harrison. When the fight was announced there was an outcry of boxing fans and casual fight fans against this mismatch. But every day we were told that we were being too 'purist' and 'unrealistic' and that it would be 'a great fight for British boxing'. "Anyone who doesn't like this fight is a nerd" I think was one of Barry Hearn's quotes. But you're right in a sense that anyone who paid money for the fight shouldn't really complain because it wasn't hard to spot that this would be an awful fight. The only question I'd ask now is was this the great fight for British boxing that we kept being told it would be?. If anyone who hasn't financially profited from this 'event' says it was then I'd like some of what they're on please!
A lot of what you said is true. Many casual fans are a bit silly to believe the hype. I didn't fork out £15 as i dont have sky, if I did I would probably happily pay for it as I want to watch the fight and see live if I win on my bets with the bookies. I was well pleased I made £1650 on Haye to win by stoppage, 1-3 & 1-6 rounds were my bets From the start I predicted haye to win by round 3 as I know harrison is simply a domestic level boxer. I put a bigger bet on haye for 1-6 rounds just in case if it goes beyond 3 rounds.
:deal Also may I add that from what I have read there was something between 600-700,000 PPV buys, impressive but some 30-40% down on the million Sky were expecting. Part of me is furious that Boxing has been made a joke of but a part of me is delighted that Sky have got such egg in their face. And also one more time may I add **** you Barry Hearn and **** you Eddie Hearn, I'm a Boxing Fan who pays my money to watch **** like Saturday **** you if you think I'm a deluded internet geek that doesn't know the real world.
Fans would pay 5 times as much for a rematch and come out with an excuse such as "I just wanted to see Harrison killed!". Mock outrage.
I've only seen the youtube of the vicious (excuse me while I laugh) knockout. I won't divide my monthly internet connection fee by thirty days then by 24 hours and then by 60 seconds and multiply by the time elapse in the video to determine my total investment in this farce. But lets just say for arguments sake its around two bits (a quarter of a dollar U.S.) I want my money back.

It cost me £6.60 the price of 2 pints at the local. At the end of round 2 I had 1/4 pint left and therefore topped up. A second later the fight was over and I had a lot of drink left. Not complaining as it was a good pint.
