Exactly. This "running" stuff is getting out of hand. These people would be calling SRL a runner. Pathetic.
I honestly think you might be on to something. After the Austin fight he's fought different. (leaving out a fight agains Tomato Can-ite Mora) he's been ultra cautious and unwilling to engage. I seriously doubt his ability at his size to take a BIG heavyweight shot, something from the likes of Peter, Klitschko, Maskaev, Tua, etc... but he's lucky, the Heavyweight division is ALMOST void of big punchers right now.. it's been awhile since there was a list of top 10 guys who don't have power. Don't even ask me to do a top 10, because I can't, the division is so void of talent.. actually.. I'm gonna start a thread, because I'm curious to see if people can even give a top 10 without listing C-level guys in the bottom half.
Holyfield only had minor spots because Ibragimov did not come in to take him out. That was a shameful performance. Ibragimov won easily, that's what I picked for the fight, I just expected him to stop the old man, like any sane analyst would have, he had the oppurtunity to really take him out in 10th but he STOPPED the attack, for what reasons? Who ceases an attack on an opponent who's not even in the fight and hurt? There may in fact be chin issue's, did Evander buzz him at all late?:think
It sounds like Iggy fought a smart fight. Hit and not be hit. Is that not what the art of boxing is about? Oldyfields only chance in this fight was a lucky big punch. Why should Iggy give him the opportunity to land that shot? Iggy did not need to slug it out with OldyField -- he could out-box Evander and that is what he did. It would have been stupid of Iggy to stand toe-to-toe with Evander and exchange shots like a couple of rockem-sockem robots. That strategy would have given Oldyfield the only chance he really had.
He certainly has, though he did blow out the journeyman Mora in the first round, Mora had never even been down I don't think and fought several hard hitters. I don't doubt that Ibragimov can punch when he committs. However, the way he fought Briggs was probably the right thing to do against Briggs, I didn't hold that against him. But a 44 year old Evander who could not even let his hands go?? Come on! Absurdity, that's what we're dealing with here and generally when you have issue's like this, there is something extra going on, often times has to do with the ability to take a shot. I'd take him over Maskaev, possibly the current version of Tua, but Klitschko and Peter would take him out easily. We'd certainly enjoy that!:yep :good I'd take Chagaev over him also, possibly Tony Thompson depending on if Thompson can impose himself enough, so far Thompson has stepped up gradually and has shown average punching power. A top 10 can easily be made, but you'd have to include the C level operators, since the best HW is just a B+ in Wladimir!!!
I thought hitting without getting hit was a sign of a skilled boxer. Mayweather has transformed Ibragimov into something different than what Panama Lewis made. He isn't totally safety first. He still has some agressiveness. Instead of a cat and mouse type competition with Ibragimov it's really a cat and mockingbird type contest. Ibragimov will work angles unload some punches but when it looks like his opponent is setting up his counter attack Ibragimov dashes away and goes back to looking for another angle. It doesn't appear like Ibragimov has much brawn compared to the rest of the heavyweight division so he has to use his brain to win although he probably could have KOed the Real Deal if he made an honest.
i second that. Sultan is a come forward fighter, it's his corner that keeps telling him to fight the way he did. get rid of this piece of crap trainer:deal
