I'd rather see Juanma fight for 5 more years than 5 more seconds.

Look at it however you want. Salido was going to hurt that boy.

He's still only going to fight 5 more seconds if he gets in the ring with Gamboa next.

It was a little premature, but Juanma was out. Watch the replay. I thought it was too premature, but in slow motion, man, he ate some huge punches.

Is being in a medically induced coma to reduce brain swelling "going out like a champ"?

Salido was in the verge of knocking Juan Ma out and I am a big fan of Lopez. Juan Ma was just throwing arm punches and you know 1 punch is all it takes to give someone a brain dmg. Besides the score was 66-66 and the tide was turning into Salido's favor. I didn't see Juan Ma's corner protesting. It was a good stoppage to protect the fighter.

Your right. I was upset during the fight when it was stopped, because It was all out action and you hate to see it end that way. I agree that Salido was hunting Lopez down, and while I still feel the stoppage was premature, it was probably for the best.

JuanMa just kept eating right hands. Loved the fight while it lasted...

For him it is because he isn't in the ring taking the punches.

Some of these guys won't be happy until the fights are to the death I guess. Kinda like Roman gladiator times. I don't think Juanma was coming back after the shots he took. The other guy was to fresh and JML had lost his pop. One punch can change a fight. Ortiz/Maidana? Ortiz got crucified (staying with the Roman there here.. :D ) because it happened to him. I haven't seen this fight but someone said Berto took a solid shot in the first and never recovered fully?

The Roman theme has occurred to me many a time thinking about these sort of situations.

I agree with the thread starter. I'll take that stoppage because he's wasn't on, and wasn't hurting his opponent.
