If Bob Fitzsimmons weighed 200lbs but acomplished the same........

Fitz was an amzing fighter and very over looked. I think it is more he is overlooked because the era in general is overlooked.

 

I find it hard to get my head round the fact he knocked out a champion of the calibre of Corbett after 14 hard rounds with a body shot,conceding the best part of 20 pounds.His power must have been phenomenal.

 

I was more querying the 'Whatever you think of his era he did can', but as you know I dont rate the era and believe the amount of good big men over 200lbs were slim to none enabling him to compete

 

How many good big men over 200 lbs were there in Marciano's era then?

The guys Fitz was beating would not be big today but they were prety average for an era in the 20th century.

 

Good point, but there was Old Louis, Baker, Valdes. Walcott and Ray was about 200lbs and pretty much ripped to shreds. Although Marciano's era was between the eras of big men and the next era would have Ali/Liston/Williams/Terrell. You also have to ask how fitz would do against;

I wouldnt give him a good chance to pick up a win against those foes. How would he do against: Lastarza, Valdes, Layne, Baker, Bivins, Lloyd Marshall, Harold Johnson? Again tough to see him picking up wins against them.

So Fitz would struggle to be a top10 HW in Rocky's era imo

 

Jesus, pre crucification could walk on water, but Fitz I doubt....
