I am sure it would have helped him IF he beat Lewis but he did lose to Lewis in the amatuers and Lewis improved in the pro's...I think Lewis was the better man and he would have bested Riddick at any stage of his pro career. Lewis would have been careful vs Bowe like he was in the amatuers but Bowe was always easy to hit...I dont think Lennex would have fallin asleep at the wheel like he did vs McCall and in preperation for Rahman, he knew Bowe from the Olympics and would be cautious but I think Lewis was the better man...fighters like Holmes and Bowe may get reconition for not fighting top men in division but I think a champion MUST.....

Ruddock was the contender to beat and Lennox did that, but Holyfield was the champ and Bowe beat him hands down.I think the whole debacle that followed was a money making scam to build up bigger interest in a fight between Bowe and Lewis. Both guys take easy fights for 18 months or so make millions then square up for a mega fight.Bowe fought Fergason and Dokes then lost.I may be missing some out here but i think Lewis beat Tucker and Bruno before getting beat by Mccall(cant remember where Phill Jackson fits in to this)but the whole thing backfired big time.I think had they met in the early 90s Bowe would have won by stoppage.Would have been a good one shame it never came off.

Bowe would have psychologically collapsed while fighting Lewis. Hell, he collapsed psychologically at the mere notion of fighting Lewis.

Bowe at his best never had the self-confidence that Lewis had at his worst.

Even if Bowe had met and beat Lewis, his title run is short lived and he loses to somebody.

It takes a certain discipline to still be a gym rat as heavyweight champ and stay in top shape once the big money has come in. Bowe between fights is a manager/trainer nightmare once you put $5 or $10 million in his pockets. Just try getting that guy up to do his early morning jogging and put in the day to day hard work exactly like he did in his first title opportunity. It was never there for a Bowe & the money earned from a big victory over a Lennox Lewis compounds those kinds of problems.
