You really can't be trying to compare Cotto and Ortiz just to defend Floyd's choice. That's just assinine. And I don't think that even needs to be said.

Ortiz's ONLY decent win is over Berto, who himself doesn't really have one. I don't even think Berto has a win over a top 5, let alone top 10 WW. Being the "best available" is a terrible way to try and validate an opponent, which was what most said about Floyd's choice of Ortiz.

Its the same as me saying that Pac/Arum should have contacted Mayweather to make the fight rather then scheduling JMM. At this time neither fighter was going to humble themselves enough to seem like they were chasing the other.

It really wasn't until this last negotiation that one of them actually seemed to be the one to chase the other. With Mayweather looking like he was chasing Pac.

Bradley is more accomplished and deserving of this opportunity than was Ortiz at the time he was given his chance to face Floyd. Both legit though to a certain extent; just not the best choices for either guy.

Bradley is better than Ortiz and a much harder challange. Ortiz lost to Maidana, drew with Peterson and was basically a hype job who was proven to be weak willed. Floyd was never in trouble of losing to Ortiz and Ortiz's issues meant that the fight was pretty unsatifying too.

Bradley is undefeated, seems to be mentally very strong and has beaten some decent fighters and fought his way to the very top of 140.

How can you compare the two? the only thing they have in common is that they are young, even through Bradley is clearly an adult while Ortiz is a child.

Bradley is a better fighter than Ortiz and doesn't have a KO loss on his record.

He may have been sarcastic in his post, but that logic is flawed and I showed him why the logic was flawed. Ortiz lost to Maidana in a sad fashion, but that was at 140 and 6 fights ago. He showed heart, size and strength vs Berto.

You guys change the rules of what an opponent needs to be in order for Mayweather to get credit for a win. The problem is there is no fighter that is perfect in every aspect so you will always find a flaw in any match up.

What rules? The ONLY rule I ever have for someone of Floyd's (or Pac) is that they be ESTABLISHED as a fighter. Ortiz is not. Berto, despite being a belt holder @ WW, is not. Cotto is. I don't know what rules you think people keep making. Does Berto even have a win over a top 5 or ten WW? Nope. And that's who Ortiz beat to be "worthy and ranked #3". Rankings, as a number, only have strength when they are surrounded by other ranked top guys. Ortiz was, as MANY floyd fans put it, the "Best available".

More then likley, it's often a case of trying to make a lesser fighter FIT the criteria that he doesn't belong to, and as you did with Ortiz and Cotto just now.

BTW, Ortiz showed SIZE and STENGHT? WTF does that even mean? This is boxing, not powerlifting. I'd rather he showed composure, skill, and smarts.

Ortiz will probably make for some very good action fights for his career. But that doesn't make him elite.

Who would you pick to win at WW. :patsch And who was rated higher when Ortiz fought Berto? Who was rated higher when Shane fought DLH at 147? When Floyd moved to WW and fought Sharmba Mitchell, while Margarito was ranked by ring in the top 10, what did that mean to you then?

If all you go by is rating, or rankings, then you'll just be playing this game forever.

Lance, I'm not trying to pick on u cuz I know you think I only watch Floyd etc....

But your info you listed is off. Mitchell was taken because Zab had a mandatory-That fight was at 47 not 40.

Also, Judah was ranked at the champ spot by Ring, WHEN Floyd was gonna fight him originally-then zab ran into baldomir and we know what happened there.

Rating only has something to do with the argument-NOT EVERYTHING.

Yea the rules change all the time. Mayweather fights established fighters and then the next excuse is they are to small, they are to old, they aren't skilled enough, they aren't prime.

When Mayweather came out of retirement the question was when is he going to fight a full fledged WW . The whole theme was how Mayweather picked on small fighters like Judah, Hatton, JMM and would never fight guys like Mosley, Cotto, Margarito because they were bigger guys. He fights Mosley and its Mayweather never fights young guys he only fights old guys like Baldo, Hoya, JMM, and Mosley. He fights Ortiz and now its they need to be established as well.

So at the end of the day the fighter needs to be young, prime, full fledged at that weight and established in order for Mayweather to get credit. Then when he beats Cotto its going to be when is Mayweather going to fight ATGs he only fights guys that might go to the HOF but never goes after guys that might be ATGs lol.

You say this now yet you claimed that Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, Mosley all would beat Ortiz. And I claimed that he would be in every fight and probably be like 2-2 but the point was that he would compete with every one of them and would be in that mix. You weren't so willing to give Ortiz the benefit of the doubt like you now are with Bradley.

And you just came off saying guys should be established. Ortiz has established himself as more of a WW then Bradley has. And no i'm not complaining about Bradley moving up in just stating the facts.

Ortiz defeated the #2 WW in the world Andre Berto on his first shot at WW. Margarito defeated Antonio Diaz for his WW title. Ortiz was always seen as a fighter with big potential and a rising star. Margarito was seen as a journeymen until he defeated Cotto. If Margarito would have fought and defeated Spinks or Mayorga in a big fight during his time at WW then he would have been viewed in a better light.

Ortiz's resume is better, his W against Berto over shines everything that Bradley has done..
