then he might just retire now.
he may have been waiting for the outcome of pac v dlh to see if by beating dawson he could retire no1 p4p.
but even if he beat dawson now he would not go no1 so he may just retire.
shame if he does as i would have liked to have seen that fight in cardiff.
but now he hasnt got nothing apart from money to fight for so may not get up for it.

Beating Dawson, who is not even a top 10 p4p fighter at the moment, does not propel Joe over Manny. Sorry. But Joe would deserve ALL the respect he gets. But the fight will never happen, cause Joe will never fight Dawson, so why are we talking about this?

And what makes you think Joe even gives a damn about p4p rankings? That p4p **** is so insignificant. I doubt Joe gives a **** where he's ranked.

Pound 4 pound is imaginery, if that was his reason for staying on he shouldve retired ages ago. Dawson would improve his own record and bank account, they are two good reasons.

How much would Calazghe-Dawson draw ?

How come Dawson's a "big name" all of a sudden ?

I imagine Calzaghe-Hopkins would draw more, even allowing for the fact that the last fight was awful.

Chad Dawson could bump straight into me in the street, i wouldn't know who the **** he is.
Sure, Calzaghe can draw thousands in Cardiff fighting ANYONE, but for global PPV sales is Dawson a good bet ?

CalSLAPPY wont fight Dawson. Slappy Joe's agenda is the safe route to breaking Marciano's record.

What a desperate man you are.

IF Joe beats Dawson, and that's a big IF as Joe hasn't fought many top quality boxers in his career, then of course it would improve his p4p standing...

...but what do you think Manny and JMM will be doing at the same time? Pac will probably be beating fringe top 10 p4p Ricky Hatton to win a world title at a 6th weight class, and JMM will probably be beating top-class opposition himself in the shape of Nate Campbell or Juan Diaz or Joan Guzman, so poor Joe will most likely still be anchored at #3.

    why?

he didn't talk down about manny and JMM and simply stated that he would like to have seen one of his fighters bow out of the sport as P4P1 but accepts that is unlikely to happen now.

P4P is irrelevant in terms of his own legacy.

Dawson win pumps him into pure inarguable great status.

Dawson ain't in the same league man,
It would be a replay of the lacy fight.
