Same goes for RJJ he was unhittable in his prime. Bottom line is on the world boxing scene Jones not Calzaghe was the man to beat..not vice versa. Jones had already convincingly beaten B-Hop and James Toney(2 hall of fame fighters). Who had JC beat when RJJ was on top of the boxing world before he started thinking about moving up? Omar Shieka?? LMAO..Jones had fought a way higher level of competion than JC had at the time. I just think JC wanted to keep his 0 and he knew it would be a big gamble to fight RJJ who had already put so many great fighters to shame.

They did it in Las Vegas...Let them try it out in Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Or, even in Madison Square Garden.

Ahhh because your country have an overall greater saturation of people, that automatically equals better rivalries? Come check out Yankees-Red Sox one day. Why do you win default, because you have more alcoholics fighter over soccer?

If you want the drunken assholes fighting over a dumb sport award, you get it hands down. For pure rivalries in a variety of sports (not just soccer), then it's the US hands down.

In the last 8 years, JC's best wins were Kessler and Lacy. Think about it, and those were recently.

What was JC doing from 1999-2007??? Padding his record, and adding to his bull**** number of garbage 168 lb. championship defenses???

As I said, come to Yankee Stadium, and try that bull****. See what that gets you...Boo the National Anthem of the USA in the Bronx, NY. Until then, who cares??? All you talk about is Football. That's your main sport and you win that competition, good for you...

But don't talk like there is no noise at Football stadiums with 80-100,000 people, or talk like you are the only people who can fill an arena. Yankee Stadium fills 55,000 seats 81 times a year. Think about it...

Point is, let your tough guy drunks insult our Anthem someplace where people care, like New York...

I wasn't talking about Bernard. Stop getting defensive just because for 8 years, JC fought nobody of any recognition that mattered. He spent from age 27-34ish fighting bums and no-names. And you want American fans to bow down to this guy? I don't think so.

Are you out of your ****ing mind?

You all sit around eating hotdogs, high fiving each other and mumbling "advice" to the players in your *******ized version of the English language

I would know, I've been to hockey, baseball and basketball matches. It was not in anyway comparable to an away day at Anfield, as a Man Utd fan

    Yanks = Deluded

i never thought i'd see the day i'd defend rjj here, but glassjaw roy's resume is vastly superior to calzaghe's. toney alone trumps any of calzaghe's best wins. gonzales, tarver, woods, griffin, johnson, del valle were at some point in their careers title holders. granted their were garbagemen and cops in there:yep, it's till miles ahead of joe's best wins. let's not even factor in oldman river hopkins, to make it fair.

And if they booed in Yankee Stadium at a Yankee game or a Hopkins fight, those fans would get their asses ripped to shreads.

Sooooo does fighting great fighters who move up in weight now mean less then fighting bum fighters who are at their natural weight???

What was Duran's natural weight? Did none of his fights above 135 matter because that was his prime???

Mosley's prime was at 135...I guess Cotto just beat a blown-up fighter.

That talk is all bull****. GREAT FIGHTERS MOVE IN WEIGHT AND SEEK OUT CHALLENGES.

Calzaghe stays in one weak division, and spends 8 years fighting no big fights, no P4P ranked fighters, no recognizable great current or former world champions. I am not some American cheerleader jerk like some people on here...I call a spade a spade. Calzaghe fought no one from 1999-2007, and there is nothing else to speak about that. He didn't actively seek big fights until he got older and wanted a few good paydays.

HE NEVER FOUGHT FOR LEGACY. He padded his record, and now he just wants the money. That's fine, I respect that. He has never been beaten up too badly in a fight, and he probably won't end up with permanent damage, and that's good.

But don't make it out like this guy fought all comers, looked for the biggest fights out there, and is the greatest fighter of this generation. He is nowhere close.

You should know this by now, there is a positive correlation between boxing skill and passport being American

If RJJ beats Woods it's a great win

If Joe beats him, it's a euro bum

If Hopkins beats Oscar De La Hoya and Tarver, they are great wins whereas they would become either too small or never-beens if Joe was to win

Not true! Woods was just another heap of trash thrown infront of Jones for him to anhilate infront of his fans. I dont know anyone who counts that as a "great RJJ win"

Hahahaha...is this a gathering point for every egotistical Brit in the world???

I've been to England, been to FOOTBALL MATCHES, and have many British friends, and none of them think they're god's gift to the world like you guys do...It's just amazing.

    Ever been to Yankee Stadium???

Besides, as I said, if you want to brag about having the most alcoholics willing to brawl over a kid's game, then hey, you guys win!!! Congrats!!!

Are you still mad that us "Yanks" didn't want to be under the rule of your bull**** thrown??? Are you upset that we didn't want a King and Queen 232 years ago? If so, that's sad. Get over it.
