Accusations no one is making??? Are you kidding? Bashing Calzaghe's CV is this forum's bread and butter....

I agree with what you are saying tho with regards to the fact that he isnt up there with RJJ or Hopkins, but hes not too far off.

Of course his dad is going to say that. Farmboxer is a big fan and China Hand Joe is Calzaghe's unofficial publicist.

Look the premise of this thread is that if Calzaghe was American he'd be treated with more adoration. I happen to disagree, I think that he's
treated fairly. Look, a fighter's style will always have an impact on how he's received by the fans. American fans like:

    Miguel Cotto (Puerto Rican)
    Marco Antonio Barrera (Mexican)
    Manny Pacquiao (Philippines)
    David Tua (Samoan/Austrialian)

If Joe was American he would have a few losses but he would still have ruled the super middles but after a while the american public would demand that he moved up in weight! He also would have ruined Jeff LAcy allot sooner !

Why didn't they demand that Bernard Hopkins move up in weight?

If JC was American, he would have met the prime versions of RJJ and BHop. He would have not been as big name as he is now.

He would have been matched a lot harder early in his career and would not have a zero on his record. He would never be rated higher than Hopkins and would have been knocked cold by a prime Roy Jones i dont see how anybody who has watched Jones in his prime could imagine Calzaghe winning that fight.
