I keep on saying this... as much as cotto took a beating in this fight, margarito took a beating as well, which many people are not taking in consideration... the first few six rounds he took a great amount of punches as well... this takes its toll... maybe we have seen margaritos highest peak maybe not... we will see when he gets back in the ring...

If Cotto fights Margarito Cotto will get stopped again. Joshua Clottey is not Antonio Margarito, amd Clottey threw away the fight with Cotto by not being active enough the last 4 rounds. If Clottey had been more active he could've at least won a round or so out of the last 4.

I'm still skeptic as to Cotto having the necessary stamina to hold on for 12 rounds against Margarito whom will still throw 100 punches per round on average because Cotto doesn't have Mosley like power to diminish Margo's output

I dunno........I think the Cotto fight took a lot out of Margarito and took a lot out of Cotto.
And then the Mosley fight took a lot out of Margarito.
Margarito just wasn't the same fighter when he fought Mosley........or at least it didn't seem like it to me.

I think Margarito should have to get by Clottey to get a shot at Cotto or Mosley in rematches.

Margarito may well be damaged goods though.

Margarito did not train for Mosely, which is the reason he wants a rematch ASAP.

In that case, Cotto's career would be at the same point Hatton's is, maybe would be on the edge of calling it a day... Anyway, I think that he must face his own deamons if he still believes in himself, just like Cintron did, do or die for, start where he left off ( and on his knees to come back up).

before the cotto-clottey fight i would have said margo wins the rematch on points, but it would have been a real 50/50 looking at the circumstances.....i would have to say margo by TKO again....cotto def does not look like an elite guy anymore....if clottey would come that close to beating cotto, and clottey doesnt throw a lot of punches....imagine what margo would do in the re-match to cotto....

cotto is done at the elite level....if he fights manny, he will be like hatton....i'm dead serious.

If he wins a rematch then the first fight becomes irrelevant, IMO. Should he win in the same manner or even more convincingly, Margo would have then proved that he can beat Cotto on a fair playing field. The fact is, we will never know if his gloves were loaded in the first fight or not.

To answer your second point, IF Margarito beats Cotto in a clean rematch then I will probably lighten up my attitude towards him a bit more. I have almost forgiven Sugar Shane but his circumstances were different; it would be quite easy to take a performance enhancing drug by accident. As for wraps- I'm sorry but IMO, Margarito knew what was in them.

Neither fighter is the same after the beatdowns they suffered against Margarito and Mosley. So, it's about even in that department.

Margo has been in more wars, and is older. He looked like garbage against Mosley, just looked like a different guy. I'm not sure if he's hit a wall in his career, based upon how he fights. I don't think so, I just think Mosley is a nightmare matchup for him.

If I have to make a pick

. Margo isn't what he was, but neither is Cotto. And Cotto still goes into the fight with the memories of the first meeting.

Plaster or not, that is a giant psychological advantage for Margo.

Margo beat Cotto (and others) by cheating with solidified plaster. It was akin to putting plates in your gloves. He never had that sort of destructive power only a matter of a few years ago. And once he got sussed he comes and fights Shane and couldn't make a dent.
Cotto SHOULD fight Margo again. He could have had his career finished by such a cheat. Cotto will knock him cold and prove he was cheated.

He is very durable but his "secret weapon" has been taken away. I cant wait to see margarito return and everyone can see his true level.

And judging from Sat's fight looks like Cotto still does not clinch.
(Which is good for us (Fans), Bad for Cotto)

It's a real liability (that Cotto doesn't clinch), especially against someone like Margarito.
