No way Hatton beats Mosely. Hatton's good, but it seemed that without the ability to wrestle and maul, he wasnt as effective. Mosley beats him by KO.
I guess we can just agree to disagree b/c in my opinion being a title holder doesnt make you the man. I dont care for the politics. I think a fighters greatness should be determined by the quality of his opposition. Speaking on that alone, Hattons quality was not impressive. His greatest 2 victories were over a semi-retired Kosta who was allowed to be held for the entire fight and a past his prime, partially weight-drained Castillo. He struggled against a B/C class fighter in Collazo and a D class fight in Urango. Mosley's resume is probably the best for any active fighter today regardless of his losses. In my opinion, Mosley was a much bigger threat to Cotto than Hatton was to Mayweather. The only people who gave hatton a chance of winning were his fans and Floyd haters. Unbiased people knew Ricky had no chance at all. On the other hand, the Cotto/Mosley fighter was truly a toss up. If Ricky Hatton fought Cotto or Mosley, he would get destroyed.
That doesn't change the fact that a 36 year old Shane is a MUCH better welterweight than Hatton will ever be. Can't believe you think this fight would be even close. Go watch Hatton - Collazo and Shane - Collazo and then come back and say that again.
Mosley does have a strong resume but he was older and not the same fighter. And Cotto struggled with him. Shane is 36. Tell me if Floyd fought and dominated Shane. Would Shane on this board be a shot fighter? Tell me. Everyone that dislikes Floyd would say so. But since it was Cotto, Shane is still great. Ricky was the man at 140 no matter how you spin it. And Floyd dominated him. While Cotto struggled with an older Shane.
Stop using the weight as an excuse. I don't see anyone complaining about Hagler calling up Hearns and Leonard. A win over Hatton. (Who weighed 154 on fight night, the same weight he weighs as a jr Welterweight on fight night.) Is better Then a 36 year old Shane Mosley.
I feel you, but we're comparing wins at welterweight. Mosley is a top 5 welterweight, while Hatton might not even be a top 10 welterweight. Also, who says that Mosley is old and done. Look at Hopkins. The reason you cant consider Mosley a washed up fighter is b/c he had come off of a string of great victories. If anything, DLH is a washed up fighter, which would make Cotto's win over Shane better than Floyd's over DLH. Also, do you think that FLoyd over Hatton is a better welterweight win than Cotto over Quintana. Do you think Hatton can beat Quintana or Zab Judah?
I quote Floyd " Shane doesn't get it, he's just the bait... First I beat him, then I'll beat his boss" July 17 2006. What went wrong? Shane was never the bait for Mayweather and still Floyd was applauding in front row Shane beating Vargas and Oscar stopping Mayorga... Now, that Floyd's a grown up mega-superstar... "Shane Mosley is just a sparring partner, I don't fight sparring partners... He doesn't bring enough money to the table... Margarito is not in the same plateu as I am... blah, blah, blah". Shane couldn't and rightfully didn't fight the kid when he most wanted to but should have had when he was a WBC nº1 Contender for Mayweather's title - of course, there would come the Sulaiman and Ellerbe private negociations, money talked louder and all of a sudden, Hatton was a brand new WBC 147 pounder mandatory challenger. LOL.
you think Hatton would beat Mosley, I think Mosley would beat Hatton. I'm not using the weight as an excuse. You're the one who brought up weight when you asked what weight they'd be fighting at obviously they'd fight at 147 but if you think it doesn't make a difference then that's fine Mosley would beat Hatton at 147 wether weight makes a difference or not.
Ive been referring to Orishmans post where he combines 140-147. We all know Hatton doesn't belong at 147. But they fought for Mayweathers title. Just think of this fight at a 140 fight. Hatton would beat Judah and Quintana although Quitana is big he is very very inexperienced. DLH was coming off a good win over Mayorga, a year off or not. DLH was fine. But if you want to claim he is old. Why is Cotto going after him and not Floyd.
Oh yea... Floyd offered to fight Shane, Shane turned him down. After Floyd had the power in his hand and Shanes appeal went down, he didn't want to fight him. And Shane showed he's not the same fighter he was. And its GOOD that Floyd did not fight him because Shane went be shot and should retire. Etc etc
I said stop using the weight as an excuse because you think Floyd had a huge advantage. Prime for Prime Mosley beats Hatton but like I said. Mosley is on his way out, could he handle Hatton now? We don't know, until they fight.
On what basis do you think Hatton can beat Judah or Quintana. I dont think he can b/c both Collazo and Floyd have shown that he can not deal with slick fighters. I might slightly see him doing well against Judah, but not Quintana. Also, who says Cotto is not after Floyd. We all know that he doesnt make the decisions. He leaves it to Bob. I hate that he does it, but what can I do about it except enjoy his fights. I'm sure he would not have had ringside tickets if he was not after FLoyd. Did Floyd have ringside tickets to the Cotto/Mosley fight? Floyd picked Mosley to easily destroy Cotto. Up until Cotto's victory Floyd always said Cotto was too green, but now he has seen what Cotto is made of and wouldnt dare to talk crazy.
I said Hatton is a better fighter at 140 than 147. And I only said that BEFORE the fight and never after. I never used any excuses whatsoever. I actually put some money on Floyd, while I'm sure you didn't You're a fool eze. Maybe you don't know if Mosley would beat Hatton until they fight, but I do, and most boxing fans who know what they're talking about also know. By your logic, Eric Crumble could've beaten Sugar Ray Robinson, and we'll never know. atsch
Judah like we've seen before would go crazy and become frustrated with Hatton. Quintana is far too inexperienced IMO to compete with Hatton who would come back smarter after his loss. Because he leaves it to Arum he will be critized for it. He can say no, he doesn't have to sign papers. Also, Floyd saw in the fight between them, not that Cotto has become better but Shane got worse. Cotto was open for straight right hands and hurt a few times. I want them to fight. Floyd would easily handle Cotto.
Eric Crumble could beat SRR. AN OLD OLD OLD OLD SRR. And you are right I never put money on Floyd. Maybes that just cause I dont bet, never have, just not my thing. But I picked Floyd to win. Mosley would have a tough fight with Hatton NOW. Shane is going to be turning 37. Hatton is in his prime.
