What does that say about Dawson? Do you guys really think that he has a glass jaw? Should that say anything about his future or was Floyd Sr. just bitter about their split?
Dawson has a questionable chin, seeing as he's been rocked in fights before by both Adamek and Johnson. Dirrell's a tricky fighter that switches stances effortlessly, that has shown flashes of power (Hanshaw) and has thrown up stinkers like his fight against Stevens. Sr. is a bitter old man who's been known in the past to lash out against people he doesn't like. Its all true.
Floyd said "Dirrell was about to knock Dawson out before the sparring was stopped". I think Dawson will have trouble with fighter's with speed and power(Tavoris Cloud). He fast himself but hasn't really fought anybody with speed lately.
sometimes sparring can be overblown, and sometimes it tell everything there is to know about a matchup. It depends on were the fighters are in training...Example when Margo and Williams sparred it was said that they were both putting on the finishing touches for their next fight and it was said that Williams worked Margo, and that is what happened in the fight(maybe the reason that it was so hard for Williams to get a fight with Margo)...It was said that Taylor would put a beatting on Lacy when they would spar, and once again that is what happened in the fight. On the flip side there was a rumor that Kelson Pinto not only beat Cotto in the amateurs but spanked him in sparring as well, but that isnt how the fight went... It wouldnt shock me that Dirrell would get to Dawson, Dirrell is going to be a p4p top 3 fighter before long, the kid is a super talent, I think right up there with Jones Jr and Floyd in terms of talent.
Big Floyd was mad enough at Dawson to call him "the ******" (his words) for canning him as a trainer. That was in the same interview where he mentions Chad getting his ass kicked by Dirrell. Who would really think him an unbiased source on this one? :think
