Would he have been disqualified? What do you think would have happend. Same result, DQ, KO for AA? I think it might have been even more controversial if it had been in AA's back yard.
Would have been a completely different fight with dirrell less confident about engaging. But if that particular scenario arose perhaps it could have gone to td due to dirrell unable to continue due to an 'accidental foul'. This is germany.
I honestly believe that Dirrell milked it. On fight camp 360, he seemed to recover quickly enough and it didn't look like a full blooded shot to me. IMO, given 5 minutes, Dirrell would have been able to continue and would probably have won the fight and silenced the doubters in the best way possible. I wasn't impressed with Dirrell before this fight, but up to the DQ he was making me a believer. Such a shame it ended in the way it did.
It's a worrying thing to say in a way, not sure about the DQ, but overall I think it could have turned out a different fight. That's the beauty of the Super Six though, not only is it giving us bad style match ups for top fighters, which we may never normally see, we get the home and away advantage thrown in to the equation too (some of these fighters would normally never fight away from home, so to speak). Still, obviously, in an ideal world, things should be constant wherever you fight, but that clearly isn't and never has been the case - that is why, imho, fighters who go away from home, especially early (even more so, if not being money machines at the time) eg guys like Benn, deserve a lot more credit than they sometimes get.
Despite AA's annoying moaning, he does it far, far, too much, Dirrell did hit low on many occasions, in another town, there could have easily been a point deduction there - things like that can shape fights.
Personally, i believe Abraham should have lost a point, Dirrell should have been given 5mins to recover, if he was unable to do so it should have gone to the score cards. Yes the punch was a foul, but look at haye vs. Barrett, or Barrera vs. Marquez. Marquez and Haye both took a shot when they were down, the other fighter was deducted a point. The punch Abraham threw was illegal, however, I don't believe it was intentional. Abraham caught him with a jab on the way down, and if you watch the replay in slow-mo, you can see Abraham pullin his right hand back, cocking it up for a shot, then bam. I don't think Abraham had quite realised Dirrell had fallen by that point. For by this the refereeing was quite shoddy all fight. The knockdown in round 10 was a knockdown and should have been scored as such.
When Dirrell started convulsing is the major issue here. Whether it was true or a faked convulsion i can't see a fight being continued by any ref on a live tv broadcast. Especially a fight in Super Six. If Dirrell just lay there with glove over face then maybe there could of been a point deduction and a 5 minute break. I personally feel Dirrell could of continued the bout but that's my opinion. Once Bitten Twice Shy With Dirrell.
Nothing. Dirrell would have still been on the floor and the ref would have had no choice. For me he milked it, but it was still a clear shot after the bell and the ref had no way to decide whether he was hurt or not. Even in Germany the ref couldn't have let it go on if Dirrell was still lying on the ground "knocked out"
I don't think they would just have counted because it was too blatant. The two only options would be DQ or Dirrell given time to recover. Both are equally likely if in Germany. In the US - 98% of times it will be a DQ for the home fighter.
