i like spinks but hes past his prime, ive no interest in this fight,if it isnt mosley or the cotto-pacquiao winner facing mayweather next im not watching it.
i know im in the minority (and i havnt seen a spinks fight since he fought taylor, not sure how much hes slipped) but id love to see these two boxing masters go at it. That being said... how and why the **** he would fight spinks and not Cotto, Pac, or Mosley.... If he truly did do that... and didnt fight the winner of next months superfight, or mosley, then i hope the world would finally see mayweather for what he would have truly become at that point. but... i hope that doesnt happen, and i hope he proves his haters wrong by manning up and fighting the winner of Pac/Cotto, or mosley. Now.... after those two fights, i wouldnt mind seeing him fight spinks, because like i said, though most would find it boring, id love to see this chessmatch. But only after priorities are handled.
Floyd say he doesn't fight for bragging rights, but for checks. This will prove that to be Bull because Spinks isn't marketable. He has a piece of the 154 lb title.
Fighting Spinks or any other Light Middleweight would be a fine idea, but after fighting Mosley or Pac/Cotto winner.
What is so ****in' hard to understand? Take on Welterweights. The good ones. Will all you Floyd fanatics stop bringing other issues into it - like "you're all haters", "what has Floyd got to do". I just told you, he's campaigning at 147lbs - fight the best in the division. I mean, it's like talking to a brick wall!
Spinks doesn't bring dollars that PBF wants. With that said they would see the arena out in St.Louis.
A prime Spinks would have given PBF a great fight. I've always said this due to styles. Now Spinks' legs are pretty much gone he stands more flat footed now, see the Latimore and Phillips fights, it wouldn't be as tough of a fight for him..
Agree on all counts. Of course, if the current feet-in-quicksand ****-it-I-guess-I-fight-toe-to-toe-now version of Spinks can stay on his feet long enough, King might be able to pull a string or two. :yep Then again, there were rumblings about Don wooing Floyd a few months back, so maybe Cory could wind up screwed from behind again (losing every round before the opening bell).
I want him to fight the top WW. You don't hear me screaming for a Spinks fight, although at one time it would have been a great fight. The topic was brought up and and I commented on the match up.
I'm sorry, but I don't see the sense in criticising a WW for going up in weight in fighting a JMW champon. I don't want to see this fight, but that's because there are multiple other fights I'd rather see. I mean, would you get on Floyd's case for fighting Paul Williams at MW or JMW? Would it be fair to criticize Pac for fighting Cotto at WW when he campaigns at JWW? Of course not. Going up in weight is difficult.
But Spinks isnt better than Williams or Cotto and why move up in weight when you have better guys to fight at welter?
