Would you consider him the new white Buster Douglas? Golota has many tools yet hasn't pulled out the big one yet.

I really don't think Golota could ever be as much of an underdog against any current heavyweight "champion" as Buster was against Tyson.

Seriously, I'd bet on him against Sam Peter. BTW Is he a "champion" now? Hard to keep track, really.

Golota has never really lacked in the training department, he has always been a very skilled fighter, with decent natural talent, tall, strong, fast hands,
and he still has some of these assets- the left cross that stunned mcbride looked like a shooting star, but he is never going to get past one of his biggest problems, which is how STIFF and slow he is in the first round... if he was suprised by how quick McBride was, then he'd definately have trouble with a heavyweiight in decent condition....

anyways, it kind of works, but Douglas didn't even really try after the tyson fight...

lol what power? hasn't KO'd anybody since Julius Long, who took a dive. Hasn't ACTUALLY KO'd anybody in 2.5 years.

It's all smoke and mirrors. Just some effective marketing/matchmaking. Nothing else, really.

Good point & good comparison to start off your thread. He really may have a chance. All depends on his mental state going into the fight, unfortunately. But he seems fairly loose & with a good attitude, why couldn't he beat a Maskaev? Oleg should get his back from that disgrace of a boxer, S. Peter.
Oh yeah, Golota could probably defeat Peter by UD if he can survive the initial onslaught of haymakers. Golota is big, strong & has a better chin than he's given credit for. Its his last run & he knows he has to be tough.

If Golota somehow becomes champion it would be a MUCH bigger shock than when Douglas beat Tyson. If you saw Golota-McBride you would see just how horrible he is at 40 years old. I feel sorry for him that he never won a title.

I don't think Golota would beat any current champion - they all stop him in my opinion.

First of all the Golota-McBride stoppage was bull**** lol.... not to mention the fact that Golota had a tough fight with McBride being stunned a few times, he was also stunned in the 6th round before the stoppage.

Golota won't do ****... couldn't do it in his prime, had 3 shots to do it late in his career and still failed.
