If Golovkin's PPV is a success

I really think that the way things are going he would maybe not even NEED cotto or Canelo to make him a ppv star.

This could turn out very good for golovkin it might be such a success that he wont even need both those guys.

 

Yes for sure we'll be seeing him in high profile fights.

 

It'll entice opponents, no doubt. Then once he has the WBC belt, it'll give opponents even more of a reason to risk going through him than around.

 

If it's a success it'll then perhaps put Ward on the proverbial back foot, help lure the Cotto/Canelo winner, and make Lara's team offer a serious deal rather than chat on social media.

 

This is a really good question. Once you go PPV star, it's done.

At that point taking risks isn't necessary for a fighter looking to just get rich.

This PPV will never make nearly as much money as Floyd or Pac's

even if it makes 500k it'd be considered succesful

GGG would need to make much more $$$$ than that to really join the club of ¨cash cows who nobody avoids¨

 

if this fight sells 200/300 ppv buys i would say it is a success

Canelo vs angulo did 300 000

both canelo and cotto are seen as bigger stars then GGG we will soon find out if thats really the case because if he does more then 300 000 buys it would be a huge success.

Maybe but david is not that well known but it would be amazing if it did better numbers then those fights

I really feel Golovkin is more popular then cotto and canelo we just have not got proof yet but it will soon come if its really the case.

 

Question about casual and on casual fans though. Floyd-Oscar and Floyd-Manny are the only PPV's I can vividly remember being mainstream/casual.

As in I would hear random ass people on campus talking about the fight. Even girls.

500K buys doesn't seem to be casual driven. There are over 300 million people in America.

I'd bet that if the PPV does 300-500K buys and is successful that it would be driven by boxing fans. I don't know any non boxing fans and just regular sports fans who buy PPV's except for those two exceptions.

 

I'm definitely thinking this will do more than 300k PPV. I think it's almost a chance for boxing fans (casual and not) to make a statement on what kind of fighters they want to see and what kind of fights they want to see.

 

If it's a success he will become a cash cow and many fighters will clamor to fight him whether they win or lose.
