Assuming that Bob Fitzsimmons was a British fighter, Fitz Vs Corbett or Haye Vs Wlad? Both will be outweighed by upwards of 30lbs on the night. Both are fighting champions that were viewed unfavourably in their own time. Fitz beat a small Cruiser in Corbett whilst weighing in as a super middle by todays standards, not massively favoured and by landing a single knockout strike. Let's just assume that Haye wins ímpressively'. Would you want to wait until actually seeing the fight to make a verdict? Or would Hayes wins be right up there for best wins for a British fighter? I'm not certain it's quite in the Curry-Honeyghan or Berg-Chocolate stature of wins; but it'd be a great one nonetheless.
First of all, Bobby Fitz WAS British And yeah, Hayes win (should it happen of course) will rank up there with the best british wins of all time as Wlad has been dominant for so long. But the 1 thing that may limit his win is Wlads shakey chin. I must admit, im not too clued up on Corbett. Was he considered 'chinny' like Wlad?
It didn't matter if Corbett was chinny, it was a bodyshot that took him out. I think people would be very likely to rubbish Hayes win over Wlad because we have seen him fall to bits before. I think it would be one hell of a win though. Wlad is the champ, has been dominant for years, looks better than ever and hardly anybody on this forum gives Haye much of a chance. Corbett was a total non puncher and Wlad isn't, I think it would be a better win. Changing the topic somewhat, who do you think would be more likely to beat a cruiserweight Haye, Fitz or Corbett?
