I'm the biggest Holmes fan here and even I gave Spinks the 1st fight by one point. Second fight was a bull**** robbery.

That's how most people see it from what I can tell. Spinks fought a hell of a fight the first time, maybe Holmes took him lightly and found himself in deep waters. But Holmes made adjustments in the rematch, while Spinks didn't fight as hungry in the rematch. But both fights were close. I don't know how many rounds you thought Spinks won in the rematch, but he still did pretty well, he never let Holmes really swing momentum too much but Holmes landed some good shots on him. But most thought Holmes deserved victory after a much better performance the 2nd time around.

Holmes took it by three points minimum. The only person who ever got hurt in either fight was Spinks.

Right, very true, Spinks was hurt somewhat in the rematch, not anything major but he was more hurt than Holmes was in either fight that's for sure. I definitely need to go back and score both fights.

I’m a huge Holmes fan and I think he lost the first and won the second fwiw. Been forever since I’ve watched either, probably when they happened.

Both were chess matches and it seemed to me in the first Holmes couldn’t pull the trigger and was thrown off by Michael’s herky-jerky style. In the second he had a better plan of attack for it and I thought won pretty clearly (not that it wasn’t competitive) — mostly he was more active and took charge.

I think the Spinks of the first fight might could beat the Tyson of say Tillis or in that range of his career before he was seasoned, but probably not the Tyson he actually faced. Just too powerful and fast.

This is a very hard question. Holmes wasn't much interested in the 50-0 record until he started to get close. I think he would have retired at 50-0, absolutely.........but would he have come back for the Tyson dollars? I think he would likely have, yes.
