You have a point. So basically you're saying a potential win for Cotto in a rematch would mean little, based on Margarito's deteriorating conditon as a fighter, right? I hear that. Still, there are many people who think (until right before the fight with Mosley, a few even after it) that Margarito would beat Cotto even more easily in a rematch than he did in their first encounter. If you take that and mix it with the fact that Margo is slowing down... well something doesn't add up. Your avatar suggests you're a mean, mean person. :bart
What doesn't add up? People don't get it. I said that. They don't know or particularly care if Margarito has neurological damage by the time it's over. I'm well aware of the fact that most people think Margarito had the best performance of his career against Cotto, when it was in fact one of his very worst. The results are everything to people. That's all they can see. 2% of the people here actually have logistical awareness of the complexities of what actually goes on in a fight. Nothing new. I'm saying Margarito needs to call it a day.
Jim Lampley made an interesting observation last night. During the Cotto - Margarita fight he said there were "thudding blows", however there were no thudding blows against Mosley. Hmmmmm. Perhaps there was no thudding blows because plaster Margarita didn't use illegal hand wrap against Mosley as he did against Cotto? :yep
I understand what you're saying. Still, I think the sight of Margarito getting hurt and knocked out affected your judgement on him, maybe because it's still fresh. You could be right that Margo is finished, but weren't there people that said Mosley was beyond shot when they saw the Mayorga fight? And a better example, people are talking all the time about a certain heavyweight I know you like, saying all those things like "he needs to call it a day, he's gonna get permanent brain damage, he's finished" etc., but didn't that "finished" dude go and beat that ****er Valuev fair and square? Don't you need to see Margo in at least one more fight before you're certain he should hang them gloves?
yup before the fight with marg happened i said i didnt want to see a rematch with cotto but now??? sheeeeeeeeeet let it happen!!!!
First of all, "fresh in my mind?" Do you not get it, bud? This has been going on FOR MONTHS in my mind. MONTHS. (I have another post, you didn't see apparently, where I say exactly that. ^ Margarito needs to have a tuneup style appraisal, at the very least, in my view.) In the arguing mood today, eh CX7? I'll tell you directly that your obvious need to debate, and obvious pride, are outweighing your arguments heavily. If you've always believed you've known better than me, that's one thing. If you have all of the sudden decided you know better than me on this one particular issue, that's worse. You're a nice fella, don't get me wrong, but my ideas won't bend to yours because we've been friendly in the past. You seem to have that expectation. I trust you aren't just acting on some fan agenda here.. That would be a letdown.
Not quite. Just what it says. **** fanboys, and **** Margarito - **** you if you're a fanboy. I'm not cutting ****. FACTS ONLY. Better believe it.
Oh, I didn't know you thought Margo should maybe consider retiring before the Mosley fight. No, I haven't seen that other post you're refering to. No, I'm in the discussing mood, as always. I really have no clue how you came to the conclusion that my "pride" and "need to debate" are obvious, and that they are outweighing my arguments. To me, we just disagree here. I say I'm not sure that Margo is done and should retire, you say you're positive he should. That's natural, we can't agree on everything, and disagreeing has nothing to do with pride. It has to do with people's opinions. I honestly have no clue what you're talking about here. Rafa, what the **** is that? Bend your ideas? Having expectations? Dude, I'm not Joseph Goebbels, I was just trying to understand why you thought Margarito is done, that's all. Chill. Now that is a letdown. You should know better than that about me.
You wonder why I say that? Because it's clear you aren't taking any points, and continue to come back with 'apples and oranges' comparisons. Comparing Holyfield to Margarito doesn't suit me. Comparing Margarito to Mosley doesn't suit me. Comparing Margarito to Cotto doesn't suit me. Saying that "something doesn't add up" because most people can't see it even though I previously said that myself doesn't suit me. It doesn't work period. Now, unless I say something about it, I'd have to assume you'd just keep coming back with someone new to compare, or some other attempt at reframing the issue. That's all you're giving me. Now, what is that? A crystal clear indication, again, you aren't taking any points. Tell me that isn't pride. Tell me that isn't a need to just argue for the sake of arguing. If you want to convince with these methods, this particular way, come with alot more heat. Make it interesting. Instead of trying to work and make adjustments off of my view, just lay out for me entirely how you see it at certain point.
I am not taking any points, yet I started my first response to you with "you have a point" and "I hear ya". Anyway, let me say it again, so it is crystal clear: I was just trying to understand how you thought of this (that Margo needs to retire). It's not pride, it's not arguing for the sake of arguing and I was surely not trying to convince you about anything. The only reason I brought up Holyfield (forget Mosley, that was a bad example) was to give you a chance to say why your point about Margarito needing to retire because he's taken so much damage throughout his career doesn't apply to Holy or other fighters, who also have taken much punishment for years and years. Please just comment on the things I say, don't try to find things that aren't there and don't try to explain things that I say, just ask away and I'll be happy to answer, as always. Honestly, if it wasn't you I would have already said "ah, **** it", cause you attacked me for no reason.
Please, feel free to say "ah, **** it." "Don't comment on the things you say?" Don't tell me not to comment on the things you say, hot shot. As I said; you're waaaay too prideful for my taste. Your content is far too lacking. No disrespect. Let's be done with this.
Oh, I do feel free to say "**** it", but I choose not to, cause I always want to hear what you have to say. And I said "do comment on the things I say", not "don't...". I think you misunderstood the whole situation, so I won't comment on the (false) characterizations. Again, we've spoken many times before, so you should know better, I'm not arrogant in real life and I surely am not in here.
It's pretty simple, CX7. We'll have to find a new subject and try this again sometime. It didn't work here. I understand you're just trying to make an exploration with me. The way it comes off though is alot more condescending - from both of us. Now, I'm doing that because I'm an extreme boxing fan who spends 18 hours a day (the time that I'm awake) on almost nothing but boxing. Literally. This is what I choose to do. Why are you such a heady customer? You aren't nearly as into this ****.
