Mark, it's not about AJ being better or worse than Bruno. It's about the style, Bruno had a boxing style while AJ has a destroyer style. It doesn't match up well to a proven ATG in Tyson. Berbick and Bruno both had IRON chins too but Tyson took them out quickly enough.

Aj could be hurt very early by Tyson. If he comes out attacking then Mike moves in swiftly and off loads. It would take a lot for Josh to get through that whirlwind of leather coming his way.

Would beat all these minor titlists like he did the first time round.

Will Joshua get good enough in the future to beat him? Its not looking good, seeing as tyson at 20 doesnt NEED to get better to beat 28 year old AJ.

Joshua would be throwing fast hard bombs of his own, if he tagged Tyson like Bruno did he would actually back it the fcuk up and follow through instead of going into his shell.

Wass-bruno went into his shell because he was being hit, not because he hit tyson. LUdicrous, mate.

Bruno didnt shell up when he had hurt anyone, he opened up on them.

dont usually see your posts but seeing as you'd just followed me thought I'dun-ignore you this once.

No he went into his shell because that was his personality, he was a survivor not a fighter. Joshua is a pure fighter and has the balls Bruno could only dream of.

I'd think he's a good prospect but let's wait until he fights someone good.

It's crazy to say a Tyson at 19 years old, or just turned 20, on a diet of mostly tomato cans, with best wins over J.Ferguson, J.Tillis, M.Green and M.Frazier would be favoured over the far bigger 27 year old Joshua who has just come through a classic fight against someone as proven as Wladimir Klitschko.

With the hindsight knowledge of Tyson beyond the Marvis Frazier fight, you can believe Tyson would beat AJ.
But we don't have the hindsight angle for AJ yet, so who knows.

crazy to say he easily kills berbick and thomas too, who both have better wins that Joshie.

but i appreciate that before he did it, it seemed crazy he would be ice berbie and pinklon.

But to actually defeat Tyson you had to pour it on round after round. And this is a young, mainly focused Tyson at the best he'll probably ever be. Josh will no doubt tag him, maybe rock him, but this Tyson so going to be back in his face. I like Josh but against a young Tyson I'm afraid he's not coming out with a belt.

Very true. But knowing what we've seen of Josh up to now and seeing a young boy /man like Tyson crashing through the trees, would you be confident enough to put the house on AJ winning?

Yes, he was favourite against Berbick a few months later but not many people expected him to make that particular fight look so much easier than some of his previous ones. I remember.

The other aspect is, of course, we don't know what Joshua will be doing over the next 12 months, or next 2 or 3 years.
If AJ goes on to unify the titles and beat all the top contenders over the next few years, people's perspectives will change further.

The thread title question is specific enough for me to say a lot of people on this thread are being smart with benefit of hindsight .... but perhaps not smart enough.

    No.
But I didn't expect AJ to win against Wlad either. He might continue to prove me wrong

When he walked into the ring, Berb looked so big and conditioned, he looked like what you expected a HW boxer to look like - I thought tyson, fresh out of high school and really looking like a freak Marvel/DC Wolverine type character, was mincemeat.

we'll see about AJ. At present, hes not making a great case for himself, but I agree its early days for him. Tyson was probably on his way to prison by that age, bizarrely enough, or in, I cant recall now exactly.

Point taken. AJ proved a lot of people wrong in that fight. He proved he could come back from adversity, he's a good fighter in the making. This is the trouble with Tyson though. We know how dangerous he was in the beginning but he never had to really come back in a fight, but that was because he was so utterly dominate against his opponents. Now the question is, if AJ was the champ, does he react against Tyson like so many others? Does he have the confidence to go towards Tyson and take the battle to him or does self preservation kick in? It happened to so many of Mike's early opposition and effected how they fought him.
