You can have a chin made of titanium. If you get hit in the head continuously, you will go down. His defence is the problem.
... and if a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass when he hops. http://boxen.com.de/video/Fan-React...cia-Knockout/e323a47165983c488f401935a6309956
A good chin would be dangerous for his health. It sounds strange , but its good that when he gets hit clean he goes. That was Ali's problem late in his career , chin was too good.
I get what you're saying. And it makes sense. I'm just not sure if khan himself believes he has a bad chin. I actually think he genuinely thinks his chin is fine. That's the vibe i get from what he's been saying since the garcia loss. Obviously no fighter will publicly state they have a weak chin but with khan I get the feeling he believes what he says. Also I think that if he genuinely believes he has a crappy chin, he wouldn't stand and trade when hurt. Like he did against maidana. Or against garcia even. If he thought his chin sucks he would surely have got on his bike and ran. Or maybe he just doesn't know how to survive when wobbled? As far as his jumping around headless chicken style, your theory would explain that. Maybe he thinks he's being slick and brown by jumping in and out all the time Who knows what's in Khan's head! Sometimes I doubt even he knows
Um, no. That is simply not true. And Khan's problem is his Chin not his Defense. Fighters with good Chins don't have to have great Defense as the Chin is the second line of defense anyway. Khan doesn't have a Chin and he will continue to get KOed over and over as long as he fights. Having a Chin matters. Fact.
Khan is not an adaptable fighter. He couldn't land on McCloskey (who, to be fair, was a bit of a negative target) because he couldn't adjust his shoe shines to anything else. He doesn't know how to do anything but blitz in and out, and against lethargic non skilled guys like Madaina that works, but it's not JUST his chin that keeps him from being a world beater - it's also his limited adaptability and tendency to blitz the same shoeshine 1-2-1-2-1-2 attacks without changing their angle or tempo (Pac blitzed unconventional rhythm and angles very well against Margarito, Cotto, and Oscar - his attack was much much more adaptable in the middle of his flurries than Khan ever is)
Good point. But I personally think Khan is aware of his poor punch resistence. He must be, seeing as though he's the one who's getting punched and feeling it first hand. But perhaps he's too proud to admit it? Since 2008 especially, he's been ridiculed to no end for having a bad chin. Maybe the thought of publicly admitting and agreeing with those critics, doesn't sit well with him. And so he'll jump at the chance to say "I can take a shot!" like he did in the Maidana post-fight interview. And I believe the reason he stands and trades when hurt, isn't because he's confident he can prevail. Rather, it's because has no answers for when his only plan goes out of the window and his defensive barriers are breached. That's the impression I got in the Garcia fight, as well as the Peterson one. Kind of like, "****, I don't know what to do, so I may as well go down swinging and hope for the best".
He'd be a pound for pound fighter, but far from flawless. Then again, if David Tua were 6'8" he might have been the greatest heavyweight of all time. If my aunt had a dick she'd be my uncle. The "what if" game is stupid.
I don't like the options cause I feel he'd be much better but he damn well wouldn't be near flawless. He'd still have abunch of holes in his game but a solid chin would get him on the p4p lists and make him one of the sports biggest stars. He'd likely lose to great technicians like Floyd and Marquez but the crude sluggers and the skilled but ordinary fighters like Garcia would lose to Khan if he had a chin cause Khan could keep overwhelming with speed and volume and be able to handle the counters.
