If the unified rules of boxing dictated that fighters step straight from the scale into the ring, I’d have no problem with what you propose. The issue is that nearly all fighters boil down to their most effective fighting weight hoping to achieve physical advantages over their opponents. Wouldn’t you want to do he same if you had a well trained, dangerous to the point of their hands being conisidered lethal weapons opponent trying to separate you from your senses? The boxing establishment wants us to believe that the sport evolved from same day weigh ins and 15 round fights in the name of safety, due to tragedies like Davey Moore, Johnny Owen, Mancini vs Kim. Hogwash, they did that for the sake of TV scheduling. Regarding the pursuit to become a legend, I believe Loma’s we’ll on his way based on the following: 1. 396-1 amateur record with the lone loss twice avenged. 2. Two time Olympic gold medalist. 3. Fought well in his 2nd fight for a world title. 4. Beat a solid fighter in Gary Russell Jr. for the title in his 3rd fight. 5. Made multiple world champions and top 10 contenders acknowledge defeat while seated on their stools. Let’s give the man time to write his story before we judge his accomplishments in a historical context, especially since fans tend to revere/respect once hated fighters, e.g., Holmes, Whitaker, Lennox Lewis, Klitschko, once they’ve retired.
I’m not going to lie. I would love to see Loma vs Broner just for shits and giggles. Think it would be funny and great.
Lot's of insecurity in this thread. Loma has only 11 fights! He is going to fight everyone, don't worry.
Rigo 130 Loma 138 Crawford 157 Do you do the math? I think Loma whips 150 pound Garcia. Lets see how Loma fights when he is within 10 pounds of Crawford then we'll talk. I would favor Loma over anyone within 10 pounds of his ring weight, maybe 15 even, but 19 or 20 might be a bridge too far against another elite as it should be.
And, if Loma stays at 130lb for the rest of his career it will stay at JUST that, unless a special fighter pops up at 130lbs to change that, that is. GGG will go down as one of the best MW's in history, nothing more. Hagler is the same. Now guys like Manny, FMJ, SRL, Duran. These guys became legends. Rigo will go down as the best Bantamweight in history, he'll never be in the company of Manny and co, he tried, but ultimately he just wasn't good enough to do it. Bud's attempting to try to be in that select group by conquering a tough division above him, giving up all of his advantages to become a legend. Till Loma does that, well he can always be considered one of the greatest ever at 126-130lbs, he'll never be the greatest fighter in history.
You must have bypassed the post I made earlier in this thread explaining how Loma can get to within 7LBS of Crawford's, 157LB.
You arent Loma's personal trainer. The man has never weighed over 140 in his professional career. As of now in reality, the two are seperated by roughly 20 pounds. The fight isnt happening. But Garcia looks to be in the works. We will see how Loma performs there and what he weighs. Loma turned pro at an older age then Pac and May, I doubt we will see him at Welter, but before his career is over we could see him at Super Lightweight.
Idiot. I NEVER praised Postol on here. LMAO! Find a quote of me saying anything about Postol after he beat Lucas. You can’t because I didn’t dummy. Why do you all ALWAYS bust out with “You said Postol Doe!” bull****?? Even if people never even praised Postol on here! Lol
And James Toney gained 60 pounds of fat to fight heavies. Whats stopping Crawford from challenging Joshua? Your point is moooot, broooo. Are you going to be sensible or just stubbornly demand a match that isnt in the near horizon because you are mad over Saturday's fight?
