Look lets face it Marciano was one of the greatest heavyweights to lace on the gloves. Ali, Louis, Walcott,Dempsey and all of Marciano's opponents could say no different but he was white of Italian decent and that was a form of minority back then so its not like the Klan was rooting for him.

All you can do is keep bring up the age of Walcott and Moore, but like I said Moore was a Champion on an incredible win streak but beat Bigger Younger men, so did Charles and so did Walcott.

When I say black it is because Marciano did not draw the color line and he beat 5 of his # 1 contenders and 1 #2 contender and the older more experienced guys fought their way to the top. There were a lot of black fighter then and the heavyweight and light heavyweight division was deep with talent.

Marciano emerged at the top in an otherwise competitive time. Yes Marciano was a head above the rest and he retired at 49-0 43 KO's because there was NOBODY left to fight. he was a highly intelligent man and retired with a few fights left and never came back so he is the only Heavyweight who retired Unbeaten.

Let me ask you a question what do you think about B-Hop fighting at 50 Floyd at 38 Tony Thompson at 42 KO'd youngster David Price 2X and Vlad at 39 is Dominant , others in the heavyweight division now are Povetkin 35, Antonio Tarver 46, Pulev 34, Stiverne 36, Amir Mansour 42, Cunningham 38, Lucas Browne 36,Chagaev 36, These are in the top 10 today

Being white kind of ruins it for some people and giving props to a great champ like Marciano is the last thing they can possibly do and sadly some because of his skin color

Odd question. But if Marciano was black, then yes, I believe that he would be held in the almost mythical esteem he is today. Imo, Marciano was known for his power and undefeated streak, not his "race." Obviously, Italian Americans would care for him much less, however.

Regardless, I do think that Marciano is a bit overrated. I can't understand why people rate him so high.

Dempsey also beat Tommy Gibbons who would have given Charles a hard run for his money.
On his best night Sharkey might have beaten both Charles , Walcott , and Moore and I'd confidently back him to beat Marciano's other challengers.
Bottom line Marciano was not rated as highly during the 1950's as he has since become, and neither were Charles and Walcott who were considered ordinary heavyweight champions .
When BI rated the heavyweight champs they said of them," not the best ,not the worst".When they were matched for the title the papers said they were the best of a bad bunch . Obviously coming after Louis meant they suffered unfair comparison, still
no one during their time ever called them great heavyweights..

If you were anything but just another North Murican I might take what you say seriously. As you are not, I don't. You might be Murica's northern equivalent of their " w,e,t,b,a,c,k,s " and kow tow to their belief that anything that starts with either

New York State Athletic Commission, or National Boxing Association represents the WORLD, billions of the rest of us don't give a fuk.:hi:

In fact if you had a brain you might even stop to think perhaps it was that insular M.O. that caused a nothing special 16 TIMES DEFEATED fighter like Walcott to become " lineal " champion in the first place. Or 175 pounder ancient Archie to become #1 contender.

You can get round to come backing 38 year old Louis and the other former Light Heavy Charles, if and when you work those 2 out.

For those who are stupid enough to claim that boxing from the 30's until the 60's was representative of the WORLD, try researching it's connections with Italian / Murican " businessmen "

    Start with this.

mobster Frank Lucas, who, disgusted with the government's treatment of Louis, once paid off a $50,000 tax lien held against him.

And work your way through to Liston.

The only thing International about it, was the fact that said " businessmen " had Italian blood coursing through their veins.

And all you keep repeating is.

He wasn't, and all you are doing is disrespecting far greater Heavyweights than he could ever have been, most of which are black, and dare I say both Jack Dempsey, and the K2 brothers.

He was a crude slugger manipulated into his position by the gangsters who controlled boxing at that time.

You couldn't educate pork you lump of ****. Grassing is the only thing you know about. So take your opinions and your nut hugging of Murica and shove it up your insignificant ass.

Been on this site a month and calling for people to get banned. I don't agree with most of what " whydoyouduckmebro " has to say, but what the fuk is subhuman filth like you to call for him to be banned?

You're a patronising pri ck who, if you were half as clever as you think you are, would be twice as clever as you actually are.

You come out with " I lived through those times " garbage about the Ali / Liston 2 fight, yet deny that Joe Louis was subject to racism.

    Numpty.
