Hopefully joined by the patronising numpty Perry.

I don't care how many " great nights " Moore had at Light Heavy, or Heavy. The same goes for Charles, and I certainly don't give a toss what Walcott did before he fought Marciano, save to say he had been beaten 16 times.

Kerry, Janitor, and the rest can scream like stuck pigs all they like, as many times as they like, I don't care less.

Show me another Heavyweight WORLD champion whose 3 best title defence wins were against guys with a combined 47 defeats between the 3 of them, and I'll show you a fuking fraud.

    A highly over rated myth.

Compared to that sh it, I wouldn't care if some of Tyson's opposition were still snorting coke, or drinking booze on their ring walks, they'd still be better than that.

Foxy. You have lost every single shred of credibility on this forum. I think you allow your hatred for other nationalities cloud your judgement. In America people like you are considered relics from a dark past. It's certainly ok if you think Marciano was not the greatest....he wasn't. He certainly was an all time great hwt champion. This no credible knowledgable boxing fan or historian would dispute.

That was a bigoted remark and I can see you are an idiot and a bigot, I will disregard you from now on. I can see it kills you that Marciano dominated the great black fighters of his era, the very best of his era and it kills you because he was white. Sorry for you

Go away you moron. I'm white fool. It bothers me that he was sh it desperately over hyped by desperate white dummies like you and Kerry, as though he is fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Ali, Liston, Frazier, Louis, Johnson, Holmes, Lewis, Foreman, even Tyson.

Not other nationalities. Just Muricans, and even then not all of them. Just the ones like you.

I don't care what Muricans consider, are you too stupid to understand that? I would rather listen to a bunch of Afghan poppy growers, or Iraqi freedom fighters than ANY Murican.

You think that Weaver, Shavers, and Witherspoon were Holmes's best wins?

    Charles? :rofl:rofl:rofl

At least in Maxim he fought a fellow 175 pound guy I suppose.

And you want to call people idiots.:roll:

By the way sh it for brains, at the time Holmes defended against these 3 you mention they were.

    Mike Weaver 19-8-0

    Earnie Shavers 59-7-1

    Tim Witherspoon 15-0-0

In England that comes to 15 defeats in total. I don't give a fuk what it comes to in the rest of the world.

Marciano's 3 best had the 47 defeats between them AT THE TIME he fought them.

    Better luck next time.

I judge just toting up defeats to be the shallowest of all possible ways of looking at boxing history. The best fighters often suffered a lot of defeats as they fought tough competition fight after fight.

    A few examples--

Henry Armstrong--by the end of 1936 had 11 defeats. He then went on a fun which saw him win three division titles and draw in a fourth. In 1940 he lost his welterweight title to Fritzie Zivic, a fighter who to that point had suffered 24 defeats, and would suffer 65 for his career. But Zivic also had wins over Charley Burley, Eddie Booker, Sammy Angott, Lew Jenkins, and Jake LaMotta, as well as Armstrong.

Kid Gavilan--had 12 defeats before he won the welterweight championship and then had an outstanding series of defenses. Two of his victims were Gil Turner (31-0) and Chuck Davey (37-0-2) who were beaten badly. Much tougher for Gavilan was Carmen Basilio who had already lost ten fights when he challenged Gavilan and lost a close decision. Basilio would go on to win the welterweight and middleweight titles.

D-ck Tiger--had 14 defeats before he won the middleweight title, and later also won the light-heavyweight title.

Personally, I want more out of boxing history than just toting up the defeats of great fighters who fought brutal opposition as a form of put down.

It is about on the same level as dismissing the NFL champions last season because they were only 12-4 while all sorts of college teams ran up better winning percentages than that.

If by "ones own", you mean "one's own race" then that would be by definition "racist". Or "race prejudice".
    Surely.
What else could you call it ?

I was actually thinking of say a Brit versus a Yank, or Mexican v Puerto Rican. That may make one jingoistic but not racist.

I should imagine there are plenty of blacks who root for their fellow blacks against white fighters in fact I know it to be the case from going to the UK arena's and seeing it first hand, Whites rooting for Whites too.
I wouldn't say they were racist because if the opposite colour was the same nationality and was fighting an overseas fighter they would probably be solidly behind them. I'm not wording this very well but I hope you get my drift.

But you make your own mind up if you think I am racist or not.
I think I'll be able to sleep nights either way.
