Source if anyone wants it^^^. If Martinez wins, then I believe he'll have to vacate one of the titles and if he chose to vacate the 154 strap, mini-Chavez-Rhodes could be on. It's a critical time for mini-Chavez as Top Rank are in a position now where they will have to put him in with a genuine fighter to keep the brand going by picking up a title. It's **** or bust and, if it happens, Rhodes would absolutely destroy mini-Chavez, IMHO. Come on, Ryan!!!:happy:good:yep Lots of permutations in the meantime for that fight to happen, though.

Ryan Rhodes would take Chavez Jr to the cleaners, i think this is the easiet option to a world title for Rhodes.

It would be huge exposure for Rhodes and could well happen in Vegas or Mexico. Although ****, mini-Chavez is a very big scalp for any fighter due to the way he's been promoted. You never know, the WBC could well set up an interim title if all of this pans out. They're very much in on the Chavez Jr product building exercise.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if they do fight for a interim title while Martinez gets ready for Pavlik.

 

Ryan's got enough in the Tank to do it. I hope it is Chavez Jnr...Ryan would get a better payday then fighting Martinez plus it's a easier fight and also it gives him chance to build towards another bigger fight if he wins.

It be great to see Ryan get his hands on a world title. As i said about Dolan last night i say the same about Rhodes and world title...i seen far worse world champs then Rhodes and Ryan's a proven world class operator on his day.

 

Arum wouldn't throw Chavez in there without a guaranteed 100% victory for him, he is making way too much money out of him to risk it against Rhodes imo.

 

But you know how these US promoters view unknown european fighters! come on.... he'll look at Rhodes age, who he has beaten (bare in mind Moore would mean even less to Arum than Rhodes does) and realize it's for a world title! he has to let him off the leash at some point anyway don't he? Trust me, this fight is very realistic.

 

I see your point LHL. Problem is he can only milk Chavez for so long and i think times running out. People are starting to lose interest in him and he's not winning many fans outside of Mexico plus fact he saying he needs harder fights may mean they push him in with Rhodes, Maybe they have to put him in now with a ''live'' opponent because the last display was abject to say very least.

Spot on. He needs to step up in class soon otherwise only mexican TV will be interested.

 

He should of been beating by Vanda in there 1st fight, he was pushed hard by Cuello he looked terrible against Rowland (also was he not drugged up in that fight or something?) even Arum should know Rhodes is his toughest test and he hasn't passed all his tests lately with flying colours.

Would love to see it but i really think Arum and his team know Chavez isn't ready to challenge for a belt never mind hold one.

 

He needs to step up but not against someone who is on the verge of a world title. From Rowlands, Vanda & whoever else to Rhodes, Cintron and anyone in the top 10 is a little quick for someone who has looked nothing better than John Duddy

 

When will he then?

 

There going to struggle to manage him. He's on verge of a undeserved world title shot. He's in a situation where he fights anyone half decent he could lose....if he loses that goes the ranking out of the window...well i'd hope so but seen WBC at work before. He may need to take the shot sooner rather then later...time waits for no man.
