If Mayweather had a more crowd pleasing style, would he be adored as much as pac?

But Tyson had spectacular technique. Pacquiao at least has good technique. You can't make KO's without a modicum of skill.

There's more factors than just being entertaining involved why Pacquiao is more liked. One big one is that people follow an image. "Money" trash talking Mayweather who is cocky and arrogant and says he's the best vs the humble, god fearing respectful Pacquiao . I'm going to tell you guys right now . Both guy's persona is a load of ****. But as far as being entertaining it's really opinion and preference . Me personally I'm more a of fan chess over checkers. Chess requires more strategy and thought. Checkers is obvious for dumb people with short attention spans. It's obvious Mayweather is a chess master while Manny plays checkers .

Bull****!!! Pea Whitaker was hated. People hated his style and called him a runner and hated the way he used to clown people in the ring as well.:deal He wasn't loved like you mentioned. Only after he retired have people really started to appreciate his genius in the ring.

I have to agree, Pac vs Clottey is not an art and it's one of the stupidest fight that I've seen.

The editing there confirms you're ******ed. Casuals in general like KOs, he was very right with that post. Most of Pacquiao fans are casual boxing fans who tune in for his fights only, the more casual fans you attract the more popular you become, that's how it is in all sports. Would you honestly say all of Tyson's fans are hardcore boxing fans?, hell no, the majority tuned in because his style had KO written all over it. Even if he lost he guaranteed to be KO'd too and that attracts even more casual fans to tune in. Hard core boxing fans appreciate movement and defense because they understand what's going on in there, they understand the movement, side steps, counters and so on, casuals don't know what the hell is going on.

Clottey didn't show up to fight. He showed up with a billion laughable excuses as he always does.

The worst part of this fight is i had to drive almost 10 hours just to see this fight live. I was so pumped up to watch pacquiao fight live for the first time but clottey decided to cover up all night. :-(

I think that fight really showed how limited of a fighter Manny really is. The man is nothing but a repetitive brawler throwing the same repetitive combinations . He couldn't get Clottey to open up and he was damaged more in the fight . What do people honestly expect him to do with Floyd when they do fight?

To the paying boxing fan Mayweather is the most popular fighter of this era (post Oscar). He is not an adorable fighter though. Neither his boxing style (out of choice) or persona (out of choice) are tailored that way.

Mayweather will leave his indelible print on the sport of boxing when he retires. Manny will have done the same, just in a different way.

dont expect a reasonable response to this...it'll be more of the usual "floyds on vacation...scared etc"......the fact is clottey threw about as few punches as possible and still had no problem finding manny. pac looked busted up after that fight. counter punchers and pac dont get along too well. Clottey is the only somewhat counter puncher pac has faced since JMM and if he had thrown more he might have found some more success. People keep saying that this pac is much better than the one that fought JMM but he's been feeding on the same kind of go foward fighters. Now put pac in the ring with the best counter puncher in the game who is just as fast if not faster than him with a sizable reach advantage.......if floyd ever decides to cowboy up he wins this fight in a manner where people will wonder how they didnt see it coming when all is said and done.

Very good post. I love fellow objective fans of the sport. Floyd's reach is listed at 74' and Pacs is 67'. Plus Floyd is the most accurate puncher since compubox punch stats was started in the 80's and least to get hit since compubox . Another thing is that Floyd has faced more varieties of opposition whether they're boxers, brawlers and even Emmanuel Agustus who style is "drunken boxing".:hey Manny on the other hand has for the most part only faced fellow brawlers . When he fights guys who rely more on boxing he doesn't look good at all and he doesn't adapt . He just grows more stubborn and continues to throw the same **** like Paul Williams .
