If Ricky Hatton had Froch's lifestyle and dedication just think of how good Hatton could of been. Froch is older than Hatton and is now at his peak whereas Hatton's peak was about 5 years ago before he fought Mayweather. I know Ricky started his career very very young but just think of what could of been if he didn't balloon up in weight between fights and led a lifestyle like Froch.

It's hard to belive Froch is older than Hatton isn't it.

I agree with everything you say, Froch is an example of a guy who lives the life, I think he said he walks round at 173lbs, he's basically always in shape, and has respected his body his entire career, and at 35 is in much the same condition he was at 25

Hatton on the other hand, the signs of abuse began to show when he was in his late 20's, even though he was ripped yesterday, his body just looked "odd", and his legs looked soft, it was strange. You have to belive that the abuse of his body amplified the effect of the bodyshot, as i've seen him hit with much worse years ago and be ok.

Spose it's a lesson to everyone isn't it, look after your body, or you'll suffer the consiquences

You have to take Rickys style into the equation, he was never destined to have a long career.

not to mention Froch's intelligence and humility.

All that hot air blown up Hatton's arse during the WBU reign of terror has not helped him long-term in some respects, he's remained deluded and egocentric.

    this ^^

that style will always burn out quick when youth does.....also..the lower the weight the more affect age has...big difference between a super-middle 35 year old and a light-welter 35 year old.

Would he have been as popular if he was clean living. This is a guy who took 20,000 odd to vegas. He was self confessed man of the popel, he could have a laugh, have a pint with the everyman. One of he lads etc. If he lived like a Buddhist monk would he have been given the same affection. I dont think so

Hatton's problem was he wasted his prime with that WBU. But in saying that, aside from Witter he doesn't have any notable name missing from his ledger. i dont know if Cotto fight was ever discussed

All in all he can be proud of his career I feel

smaller weight boxers rely on speed a lot more than higher weight boxers...age effects speed.
