Marquez is getting old fast. I'd like to think that, but... Marquez is getting old fast.

Marquez fought a cleverer fight from the beginning.

Pac had improved but not to the extent we saw against Hatton.

You have to remember that Marquez is a ****ing brilliant fighter who is very much on Pacquiao's level at 130

    just edited my post.

History will tell that these two warrior is MUCH EVEN. Both will improve each other. As long as they improve it will all be the same.

Yep, I went with option 1. Had to.

That's the bare bones of it, but I agree with the fellas represented here as well to some extent.

    To expand upon this point...

If Manny never improved since the first fight with Marquez then he would have been blown out by Marquez in the second fight. Although I'm not one to say Marquez swept the final 11 rounds in the first fight, he did win most and controlled the fight overall.

Manny improved what he already did well in the rematch and Marquez was able to expand upon what he had success with in the first matchup. The result was Manny improved enough to stay competitive (and win technically on the cards) despite a technician like Marquez already understanding how to be beat him.

Although many have said a 3rd fight with Marquez would be a blowout above 135, I would still be excited to see it. We'll see after Sept. 19th how much Marquez still has in the tank.

Also note it is very possible both Marquez and Manny can both lose against their respective opponents, making a rubber match the next logical match.

Thats the sad truth right there

He's old now, and Manny's not had to eat a punch in his last few fights outside of JMM, so is as fresh, fast and dangerous as ever

    Manny's also naturally bigger now

I'm one of those who feel a 3rd fight at this stage would no longer be a fiar fight

Or... If Marquez wasn't clearly in clearly apparent decline by the time they had a rematch, then Pacquiao would have been blown out. Either way. Completely different formula, of course. Completely different argument, of course.

I don't think Pacquiao has improved as much as people think he has.

He had improved, but not so vast. The lateral movement is much better now.

The thing is Pac was and never will be a ring tactician. I mean he could make minor adjustment inside the ring, but never like JMM or PBF. His physical gifts are immense, but if it is blunted, he can't make the nescessary shift if it is not prepared beforehand. (improvise)

The first JMM fight he's left was neutralized. He couldn't make the adjustment of using the right more and just lead with the left (he needs to jab to set the left). Also the uppercut was lagrely ignored when i think it's the best punch to throw when JMM was focused ducking the straight left. Just looked at rd. 11 and 12 of the rematch. How many times JMM ducked the left? I was thinking of faint the left then right change it to uppercut once JMM ducked.

Why is there no choice where Pac did not reach his prime yet? Otherwise, he will be a boxer with the longest prime years.

He's defiantly improved, even more so since the JMM/Pac 2 fight, just not to the degree people think. He had bad habits and even though he's getting better at hiding them, old habits die hard, and resurface(particularly when tested). A counter puncher will still cause Pac a lot of problems, especially one with speed behind it and a chin(because you have to take into accountability that Pac will hit you). Pac can still be countered, and is very vulnerable to straight rights.
