With all due respect to those boxing greats. I do think Roy is a shell of whom he once was. Maybe they somehow think that it's still enough to beat Calzaghe ? It's hard to know. Myself, I'm not impress by a UD vs a shot and ballooned up Tito or by unimpressive UD vs Ajamu and Hanshaw. Plus that 3rd Tarver fight was a shame. IMHO, the only thing that could make this a close fight is if JC himself gets old overnight.
that really is interesing to see how many fighters are actually picking a RJJ win. i cant see anything other than a one-sided win for joe though. RJJ simply hasn't got the stamina, speed nor footwork to keep joe off him for 12 rounds anymore. both fighters in their prime nobody will ever know??????????
Wait and see. They are all wrong. Never takes a boxer's word as being sincere, there is always bias and agenda behind every public word. And no, he wasn't playing possum with Tito same as he wasn't with Hanshaw and Prince Nobody.
Remember those words when you quote Calzaghe on Jones ! BTW, I finally put up that thread regarding Roy and Sweetpea. I'm waiting to read your analysis.
Just read it. I'll post towards the end of the thread. I might need to redo the thread if ol' Roy pulls this one out. :good
And an equally big question: How Joe is going to react to getting hit by Roy? Biggest puncher he's ever faced !
Even this version of Roy...who couldn't take out Hanshaw and Ajamu? I seriously doubt it. I'm pretty sure Lacy was a bigger puncher, and so was Reid and possibly even Mitchell...
Sadly, this is true. Although Jones's power far exceeded any of these guys in his prime, the current version couldn't finish off a fat slobby rusty old Trinidad. When was the last time he stopped anyone? Over FIVE years ago? The guy is shot to ****.
He's certainly not as shot as Tarver was in his last fight. I think he still has power, good speed and reflexes, but obviously nothing compared to what he used to have. I would say he is about as "shot" as Casamayor was...people wrote him off but then he gave Katsidis a good fight and he even made it competitive with JMM for quite a while. What Jones has, I don't think will be enough against Calzaghe, even if he comes in better than ever since he came down from HW, which is a possibility...but...I do expect a good close fight, and I disagree with those who say Jones is too far gone to even give Calzaghe a good fight. We'll see.
would be interesting to see what boxing reporters saying about it I memba B-Hop vs Pavlik most boxers were giving it to Hopkins, and most reporters giving it to Pavlik
