:huh Taylor himself admitted he had punched himself out, and that's why he couldn't finish him. Looked pretty tired to me too after so many wasted punches. I think it's a very relevant excuse, particularly in Maskaev's case.
Yeah, but whose fault is it that Taylor tired out? Taylor right? He missed his haymakers and couldn't get it done. I mean giving an excuse for tiring it out is like saying i struck out because i missed the ball. Well, duh.
Right. All I'm saying is that if Taylor had picked his punches better, he very well could have finished off the obviously shaken Pavlik. Maskaev may have also finished off Peter, or at least put him on the canvas, if he had a bit more stamina. You have to admit, Oleg looked woefully tired and slow in that fight.
Wladimir permanently damaged Peter. He has never been the same after that first fight. Same thing happened to Brock, Brewster, Byrd (after second fight), and I wouldn't doubt now Iggy.
I seen where Peter went to throw a punch at the same time that maskaev threw one. That threw Peter off balance when Maskaev's shoulder hit peter on his arm causing peter to lose his balance for a sec. Peter hopped I think twice regrouped his balance and came forward throwing punches.
I'm a big Peter fan as well, but I don't know what's up with him. Ever since the Wlad fight he hasn't looked so dominant. He needs to get back in the low 240's though definitely.
I just rewatched the fight and I where Peter got "hurt" was in the 3rd round. He doesn't appear hurt, just gassed out from throwing so many punches. It looks like the left hook Oleg threw missed and hit Peter on top of the shoulder and throws him off balance, but I'm not completely sure.
THATS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPEND!!!!:good The HBO crew just jumped the gun for a sec but he did not get hurt,, just off balance
Say that Pope Benedict decides to convert to Islam, and Barak Obama picks Ann Coulter as his running mate.....:rofl :rofl :rofl ...and Audley Harrison unifies all four heavywt titles. :rofl :rofl :rofl Seriously, though, if Peter WERE to beat Vitaly, (and not by Vitali injuring himself a la Byrd), the psychological impact of his bigger, older, tougher brother losing to Sam would put a serious scare into Wlad and he would probably lose too. He might not even want the fight. IF Vitaly comes in near healthy, look for a defeat that will send Sam into early retirement.
Whereas I share your enthusiam for Vitaly's raw talent, it is not inconceivable that he will ahve to fight hurt, have trouble getting his legs back, won't be able to condition properly, etc.
