Yes but hes been exposed to the elite level in quite a few fights now aswell as the big crowds and venues, he has passed with flying colours
Wilder still won’t get full credit if he fights AJ and lays him flat out, because people will rightly want him to face more top HWs. He has only faced Ortiz who as a top HW, has since been discredited despite it being a great win.
Nonsense. I can't stand Wilder but gave him huge credit for defeating Luis Ortiz. I honestly didn't think he could do it yet he proved me wrong. But I don't see how going life and death and losing the majority of the rounds with the first real contender he's faced in his entire career somehow elevates him to greatness as his fans like to think, especially when Joshua, Parker, Fury and Povetkin having been beating legitimate contenders for years without trouble, and guys like Whyte, Miller, Takam and Breazeale have been facing the same level guys as Wilder for years. If you struggle to hold your own and lose the majority of rounds against Ortiz as Wilder did, it says something, and it tells me he has nothing more than a punchers chance against the skillsets Joshua, Fury, Povetkin and Parker possess.
Not from me Joshua is some cowardly stiff glass jawed drug dealing bodybuilder What does a win over him prove?
He gets massive credit if he wins without controversy. He'll be undisputed champion and will have won it in his opponents back yard against the odds. There of course be those that refuse to give him credit but those people's opinions are worthless. They are the same people who will say Joshua is ducking Povetkin if he fights Wilder and ducking Wilder if he fights Povetkin, you can't please some people no matter what you do as they only want to criticize.
That's how I feel. If Wilder goes in there and dominates AJ, then knocks him out clean then he deserves all the credit in the world. What I suspect is more likely though is that AJ dominates Wilder for 6-7 rounds, lands jabs and the odd right hand. And then Wilder finds his magic windmill and manages to stop AJ. That would still be a great victory for Wilder, albeit one with an asterisk.
Course he will. He would be the unified, undisputed heavyweight champ of the world. Why wouldnt he get credit? If he doesnt get it for that, then he will never get it for anything in boxing. Im no fan of Wilder and not really of Joshua (fan of the fatboy Fury), but whoever wins that fight should get plenty of props, cmon now.
Considering AJ is an explosive athlete type boxer - and those typically don't have very long careers at their peak - you can argue after 21 fights he's already in the 2nd half of his pro career or close to it. I'm not sure I see him having many more than 40 (ish) fights. The 'green' argument needs to be parked...
Hell Wilder get his credit who has he fought in how many fights? apart from Bums. Come on for Christ sake.
If Wilder wins yes he deserves credit. But he won't. Very unlikely they even fight this year imho such are the wonders of boxing politics.
