I must begrudgingly admit that this is all true. It would be ideal for Deontay Wilder to face a more credible opponent at HW than Tony Bellew is right now, but there's just too much money involved in such a fight (taking place in the UK as a springboard towards Wilder vs Joshua).

Same sentiments here. That's why I think it will happen. But hopefully a unification bout with Parker somehow materializes instead.

For boxings and fans sake, a unification bout with Parker is incomparably preferable. For Wilder, it probably makes more sense to fight Bellew.

Lol once again Wilder gets another stay busy kind of fight, that said I've no probs with it as it does make sense him coming to the UK,Bellew despite only one fight at HW and being the smaller man still has a great chance of winning though but if he gets hit by that right its all over.

Wilder has had five voluntary title fights in a row, a record. Wilder has no chance Vs. Joshu, Vlad, Fury, Parker, Ortiz or anyone else who can fight...................Wilder is a wino fighter.........

    Let's all be honest here...

Bellew looked like Nichols smaller cousin as a heavyweight.

That being said, if Bellew has inherited his uncle's jab, it could be a cherry pick gone wrong lol

Not representative of Britain though mate.

I've lived in Britain all my life, I don't know anyone personally who thinks he would beat wilder, Parker etc.

Some people do and rightly so, that's the good thing about boxing.

I genuinely thought that Haye would smash Bellew in 2-4 rounds, but then you had people who where convinced Bellew would win, these people where assumed to be stupid. But they where right.

Same thing with klit vs fury.

Point being, thinking people are stupid because they favour Bellew over Parker is idiocy. In boxing anything can happen, and tbh, Bellew did extremely well against haye before his injury.

The bookmakers are rarely wrong in their odds. Wilder has been on the floor against weaker punchers than Bellew.

Give him due? Bellew fought a top 30 heavyweight with one leg and won after 11 rounds.

haha that did make me laugh although I believe that if Wilder is having his current level of success with poor technique, it shows that if Wilder develops proper technique he will be a real force.

Not representative of all of Britain, sure, my statement was an over-generalization. But certainly:

    1. Some people rate Bellew as a top HW, buying Hearn's hype: "People didn't believe he could beat David Haye, why can't he beat Deontay Wilder, why can't he beat Joseph Parker? I believe he can."

    2. In general he is rated higher in the UK than anywhere else.

I believe this lofty opinion of Bellew, admittedly not shared by everyone in Britain, is wrong. We'll find out if Bellew fights again, he has proved me wrong twice before. But do you really think Bellew should be close to evens against Parker?

I'm not calling anyone stupid for favouring Bellew over Parker or Wilder, but I do think they are wrong and I'd love to see it. My post was: The Brits think Bellew is one of the top HWs lol, would be fun to see them disabused of that notion whether by Wilder or Parker. And yes, it's a provocative way of putting it, meant to be taken as a tongue-in-cheek comment; and it may be a mistake to write Bellew off against either, but that's honestly how I see it. I think Bellew is significantly overrated at HW. If I am wrong I'll be the first to admit it.

Lastly, bookies often get UK fighters wrong. E.g. David Price was a big favourite against Thompson I and II, Teper, and even Hammer a few months ago.

Had we been talking about this 18 months ago, it would have been laughed off the board, how things change...

I actually think Bellew v Wilder makes sense. Both will get a decent payday. Bellew gets a 'chance' at a title, he's in a position where he can't lose, in so much that if he does, we would all accept the physical disadvantages were significant not to damage his reputation as a decent fighter.

I can't believe i'm saying this, but Wilder is so unorthodox and technically, dross, I can see Bellew having a degree of success, but on the other hand, the guy throws stuff you can't comprehend, so you're likely to get hit and hit hard.

Would certainly be an interesting fight. Springboard for both. Wilder will see it as an easy defence, easy money and great for his profile. Bellew too will see a good payday (for the kids) and a reasonable shot at a HW title.

No I don't think he should be evens against Parker, but he was 4-1 against Haye. I would've wanted atleast 15-1 against Haye as I honestly gave him almost zero chance.

Of course bookies get them wrong, Douglas was 40-1 against Tyson. Fury was 5-1 against Klit. However, usually they are on the money. They are a lot more reliable than a fans opinion
