Wasn't Haye essentially being paid by Setanta though, and not a lot else? As far as I understand, after they collapsed, if he went ahead with the fight he would have got a pittance and a possible arse-whooping. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

that part i understand... I dont get some haye fans screaming about a champion getting a rematch clause. happens in MOST title fights. Wlad wasnt asking for anything unusual:deal

Yeah I don't have a problem with the rematch clause, it seems the norm.

I'd blame both parties for being too greedy.

What was the original split given to Haye, before Haye got hurt and called off the fight?

Since Wlad is so eager to fight Haye and calling him out, I figured that he'd agree on a 50-50 split now. Why even call him out otherwise, if it's gonna be 60-40 or no fight?

not true, im a brit and 40% to haye is still generous to haye IMO, wlad is clearly the bigger draw, has more belts and is the more marketable fighter worldwide if haye didnt take a 40% blame should most definitly lay with him

Every1 knows it wasnt about the rematch clauses it was always about the money, like now haye wants 2 fight vitali if he wins that sets up a massive fight/payday with wlad, where he will be more than happy to have rematch clauses because we know there fight is going to gross alot of money.

    Right now I'd say yes.

If Haye has two fights against decent opposition, a little more exposure, would you agree he'd be entitled to 50%?

Haye knows this, why take 40% right now when he up his market value, earn a few bob and actually earn his 50% in the publics eyes?

If this totals £30million right now Wlad gets - £18 mil, Haye £12 mil. (should be more than this)

£40 million (which it should achieve) Wlad - £24 mil, Haye £16 mil.
£50 million (Impossible? who knows) Wlad £30 mil, Haye £20 mil.

At worst we're saying Wlad deserves £6 million more than Haye, at best £10 million.

    I don't believe this.

Haye earned around £6,000,000 each for his fights against Valuev and Ruiz, what did Wlad earn for Chagaev and Chambers dare I ask? I honestly don't know but it would be a good measuring stick as to their drawing power, also how much were the opposition paid?

And chef if he and vitali get in on next and haye wins then he must be entitled to 50-50 right?

  11. What a ****ing ridiculous thread.

How about this, if Haye asks for 50/50 and Wlad says no, who's to blame?

    Stupid.

    Not so.

The publics general perception is that Wlad deserves the lions share because he's more proven at the weight.

Let's be honest it's somewhat true, if it was Haye asking for 60% that would be ridiculous, he's not, Wlad would.

I say look past the publics perception and look at what matters, money. How did both their fights do regarding $$?

This. Spot on. Haye only has the highly tainted WBA belt and he's defended it one time, Wlad has defended multiple belts, multiple times. Wlad is the Ring Magazine Champion & the Man to Beat if you want to truly be called the Heavyweight Champion.
