So many excuses for Kovalov's loss, coping skills must have not been taught in the household, dealing with grief.

 

The last time Ward had a fight in sight after inactivity, he took 2.5 tune-ups.

 

You are of the impression Kov is fresh and in his prime?

 

Legacy!! Ward hasnt got a legacy. After the super six. in which he fought every fight on home turf, he fought 4 times in over 5 years against club fighters while suing his terminally ill manager. Then came the 2 Kovalev fights, both of which he should have really lost one by DQ.

What is this prime, everybody believes he is an escapee from a local nursing home, no one will buy that, plain and simple he lost. If he knew he did not have it anymore, why did he take the fight? Greed is his own fault, not Canelo's. Why do it? He should have retired, to leave his legacy intact, he has enough money. or is he destitute, if he is, booze and fun cost money. If he was a dedicated champion and took care of his body, he could have won, prime sounds like an excuse.

 

Fault has NOTHING to do with a fighters condition when they enter the ring. Of course no one forced Kov to return so quickly. But he was offered ton of money, so he took it. Fighters do that. Especially for 12 million dollars!!!

All you have to do is watch Kov from a few years ago. If you say you have and he looks the same, you are just flat out lying.

 

You sound very upset, I have seen him and yes greed is his own fault, he lives the high life and abuses his body, it is his fault. A great fighter always keeps his body in top condition for all challenges, and again knows his own limitations. I do not care for Alvarez either, but fact is Alvarez knocked him out.

 

Ward would have definitely beaten Calzaghe I know that much.

Its the clean, accurate counter punching that makes them look much less aggressive.

Just look at GGG, went from MX style pressure body puncher to Winky Wright.

 

Dont be a dumbass and stay retired continue to be a good example of a fighter that retired at the right time.

 

I wish Ward had stuck around to fight Beterbiev, Gvozdyk, Bivol, etc. And I wish he would come back and fight Canelo now, too. He left a lot of potential big wins on the table that could have firmly cemented his place as the fighter of the decade, but I respect the hell out of his decision to walk away on top. More fighters should follow his lead.

 

When I said "legacy" I meant from his perspective, and in the sense of his resume, his history, and how he perceives himself.

Maybe, a better word would have been his resume.

 

I have a feeling the only way Ward will come back is if Usyk wins a heavyweight belt. Ward made some noise about wanting to be a heavyweight champ and having a cruiserweight to fight would be ideal.

I am not sure I understand the attraction of a Canelo fight. Canelo blasted out a much degraded version of Kovalev, so it in no way threatends Ward's achievement.

But hey, I would would root for Andre if it happened. Always liked him, even thought I think Kova won the first fight handily.
