i fancy ike to outjab his fellow african en route to a decision. i fancy cotto to outwork ike en route to a close decision
I think Ike would bust Cotto up wht his jab and back him to the point where he's straining to go the distance.Cotto is about on the same level as someone like Carr physically. Not robust or skilled enough to offset Quartey.
The Cotto-Clottey fight isnt even over yet, and I can already tell you that Ike woulda ****ed up either of these guys.
ike wins both by decision in my opinion....i think he fairs better against cotto even though i feel cotto is better overall that clottey. just stylisticically i see it being better for ike to fight cotto
And I'd add, on the same night. And I have Ike's propensity to gas consciously on my mind. They aren't in his league.
I wouldnt give Cotto a snow ball's chance in hell of lasting the distance with the circa 95-96 Quartey.
Quartey would blast him out of there before the midway point. Cotto's defense isn't good enough to avoid someone as sharp as Quartey and Miguel proved himself to be pretty incompetent in busting a basic high guard, so there's no way his punches are going to phase Ike either.
Damn, where'd this Quartey love fest come from? Cotto and Clottey give each other a hard time, and that means Quartey whups them both?? To hear people talk, you'd think Quartey never fell apart against Jose Luis Lopez or was whupped outright by Vargas.
I don't overrate him though M2S, i just think it's a durability thing against Cotto, but i think Cotto has a better chance than Clottey, who i see as similar to Quartey, but Ike's better imo. If it's any consolation i think Ike get's sparko'd by Trinidad!
Jose Luis Lopez was a murderous puncher who had a granite chin. Ike getting dropped by him was nothing to ashamed of. Honestly speaking.. I'd pick Lopez at his best to KO Cotto. And the Vargas fight was at 154, and Ike looked faded in that fight. Adding to that.. a prime Vargas was a beast, a better fighter than Cotto. Miguel is just simply not THAT good. Ike would have owned him.
